I think a lot of blame can go around for the shenanigans that goes on out here…

you have companies that don’t have any standards at all and want pulse and breathing objects in seats..

secondly everyone is in a darn hurry to get anywhere these says and that includes society as well and have no common courtesy whatsoever anymore at all..

the standards for licensing seems to have gone in the gutter..stop handing out licenses like candy and start enforcing the laws as they’re written…

no accountability anymore for bad behavior and until that changes it’ll get worse…

Day 3 in the books. Got to the terminal in Humboldt to meet a local driver that starts at 8pm. I got there about 630 pm and practiced putting a few sets together. When he got there, I was told I would put his set together (loaded) then he’d be observing me, sort of a final sign off. Put it together with no issues under 20 minutes, then we left with me driving.

His run is an Olive Branch turn, get back to Humboldt at 1am then a turn to Nashville. I only did the Olive Branch turn with him. Got to Olive Branch and the sheet show started. Was shown the check in/drop procedure, had his reload already assigned, then it was up to me to set up the doubles to leave. Busy busy busy. Was completely done and pulling out in under 30 minutes.

I’m now signed off and will be hitting the road tomorrow. Today is getting me signed up with what FedEx calls the “Trip Buddy” app. That is what we use for all our trip assignments. I was told last night that I’m more than welcome to go to the Humboldt yard and practice some more if I feel I need to. I will just for a little while. My FedEx ID card should be in today. Without that, I can’t do anything.

If I give him 2 weeks, I’ll get a week off. It’s my call. I’m looking at 1-3 weeks out 5-7 days off. It will be the same as the previous job, except with this one, when I come out in the middle of the pay period, I’ll make $333.33 per day guaranteed. If I go over 2000 miles in that time when I come out, those miles over 2000 are paid at .75cpm.
