Felony & being on Parole automatically mean no job?

    Not going to sugar-coat anything...killed someone in 1989, pled guilty, sentenced to "Life with possibility of parole" (in Nevada), served 10 years and was paroled (in 1999) and will be on parole for life.

    Driving record has preventable accident: approx. 4 years ago I pulled out in front of someone, after stopping at intersection, and got t-boned, but no injuries. Cited for failure to yield right of way, and had to pay a fine of approx. $200.

    Live in Phoenix, AZ area...with this on my background check would I have any chance of being hired anywhere? Plan was to go to CDL school in Phoenix (considering AIT), but was recently told I'd have absolutely no chance of being hired, but person telling me qualified it with, "That's just what I've heard..."

    I am pretty sure, from the little research I've just begun doing, that I would definitely not be able to get HAZMAT, but does this criminal record stop me from all forms/types of truck driving?

    The preventable probably stops you more than the felony....

    that being said....as soon as i said never you would find someone out there who would hire you...

    no reputable company would but i am sure someone who wanted somebody to work for far below the standard wage would....

    i would suggest contacting western express and giving them your info before attending school and see if they would hire you...they seem to be a second chance company...

    As the years have passed my"supervision lvl" has gone down, until currently I'm at the lowest, least restrictive lvl and only report in once every 90 days.

    You did something bad, you served your time. Good for you! Seems like things are going well for you. Coming from a law enforcement background, I applaud you turning things around. I do NOT think all is lost. I believe you can still drive a truck for a living but I can practically guarantee you that no major carrier is going to hire you. I would suggest you look for small Mom & Pop companies and talk to them before you pay for a school. It will take a lot of leg work, but if you can get in touch with some places and even talk to some people in person, you may have a shot. Best of luck to you.

    Probably murder 3 and because he was well behaved and pled guilty it looked good for him at his parole hearing.

    I woke up this morning and for once i didnt get up with a headache. Had a hard days work and came home still feeling good. I just read this thread and now i have a Migraine.

    Seriously guys? He didn't sugar coat anything. He told it like it is. He served his time and has been out of trouble since 1999. There is no need for some of those comments. I thought this was a forum where people could come to ask questions and get good advice from "professional" drivers.
