Ok so I applied with Stevens for their student program. When they called and took my info over the phone, they asked if I have ever been convicted of a feloney or misdimenor? I said yes. Gave them the details. 1 feloney and 1 mis that was from 1996. But didnt mention the 2 felonies and 1 mis from 1999. Did I screw up this? I keep hearing about how they and other companies will do a full back ground check once you get there and if anything else comes up they will send you home?
I was thinking of applying with swift and this time giving them EVERYTHING!! Dont want any surprises when I show up.
When I did tell stevens how long its been her tone of voice was like "oh no problem".
The 3 felonies are check fraud and the 2 mis is for theft less then 500.
Any info would help alot,
I have had a hard time getting decient jobs because of this.

yes, you goofed by omitting the other offences, they will find them on a routine background check.
-
I don't know if you're screwed for telling them about your felonies but you did the right thing by telling your recruiter because they will find out and yes they do a background. If your felonies and mistameanor is'nt too bad,you might be ok because it's been 13 yrs since your last one.But you're right, some companies do a more thoural background check once you get to orientation. Why they do that I don't know. But you might wanna ask the company if you do get sent home if they pay for your way back home.

Why is he goofed?Whether you admit your offenses or not, they will find out so why not just admit it when they ask. What's he spose to say,no when the recruiter ask?I figure it would look better towards getting hired if you do admit it.

I am going to contact both stevens and swift tomorrow and see what they say.
I did do a compleate background check on myself today and they do show up. -
The real goof was in 1999. Your gunna have to wait a few years. Some companies have a waiting period, some don't want to see a felony ever. Good luck.

It's best to tell the truth when asked about your criminal history. It's just too easy for an employer to find out. Apply to Swift and tell the recruiter everything. You'll have a much better chance of getting hired. Not telling them is worse then the offense itself.

Here are 3 companies that hire felons; but, you must have your CDL before they hire:
Carolina Cargo
Western Express
Paschall Truck Lines
You may qualify for free CDL school through WIA at your local dept of labor or unemployment office. -
