Yeah I bet the flooding really screwed up the fuel. Any fuel haulers here can tell me what happens if it floods over top of where you dump the gas/diesel into the underground storage tanks? Can water get in there and now whatever fuel was in there is now mixed and useless?

Fuel reall isn't the problem it is power--there is fuel and power out on 81--but once you hit 78 it is touch and go--then once you get in Jersey--the west end truckstops still out of power in jersey--so gotta fuel-south of Pa on 81(to be safe)not sure about coming in from north--but talked to a friend this afternoon--said he fueled in jessup md on 95--not sure about up Elkton way etc....
Also have it on pretty good authority--friend here in PA who haul gas--that arrangements had been made to run tankers into NY/NJ affected area's to fuel emergency vehicles etc--once they are told it was safe--they were both told--to be prepared to work then next 10-12 days strait--w/lots of OT

With just a few exceptions, the majority of the major chain truckstops are back up and running. For example, the only TA that was without power about 1800 on the 31st was Willington CT, and they had a generator enroute.

    Elkton has fuel and power.

I drove from Syracuse down to Elkton yesterday (I didn't take the PATP), and I encountered a few areas in PA without power. Just isolated patches where the poles had broken and were lying on the ground.

Just got e-mail from Pilot claiming all there locations are back up and running after Sandy--so I am guessing that means--the mess on 78 yesterday at #7 and #12 may be clearing

Can you tell me how to even set up with them for future loads or hurricanes?

And don't forget what FEMA did during Katrina. Trucks took loads down and were "drafted" into service. They paid but leaving was not an option. And this point they have what they need but that can change towards the weekend. Supply is getting tight and we are just seeing the replacement need increase.

Water shoudn't get in. Hauled fuel for a short time and had a few poorly built stations that had all the rain run straight into the fills and even though they would be over filling with water it never showed excessive water in the tanks. For what it's worth alot of tanks have some water in them.
