Yeah I bet the flooding really screwed up the fuel. Any fuel haulers here can tell me what happens if it floods over top of where you dump the gas/diesel into the underground storage tanks? Can water get in there and now whatever fuel was in there is now mixed and useless?
-
Also have it on pretty good authority--friend here in PA who haul gas--that arrangements had been made to run tankers into NY/NJ affected area's to fuel emergency vehicles etc--once they are told it was safe--they were both told--to be prepared to work then next 10-12 days strait--w/lots of OT -
With just a few exceptions, the majority of the major chain truckstops are back up and running. For example, the only TA that was without power about 1800 on the 31st was Willington CT, and they had a generator enroute.

I drove from Syracuse down to Elkton yesterday (I didn't take the PATP), and I encountered a few areas in PA without power. Just isolated patches where the poles had broken and were lying on the ground. -
Just got e-mail from Pilot claiming all there locations are back up and running after Sandy--so I am guessing that means--the mess on 78 yesterday at #7 and #12 may be clearing
-
Can you tell me how to even set up with them for future loads or hurricanes?

And don't forget what FEMA did during Katrina. Trucks took loads down and were "drafted" into service. They paid but leaving was not an option. And this point they have what they need but that can change towards the weekend. Supply is getting tight and we are just seeing the replacement need increase.
