Yeah.. I agree... But I know a girl... we graduated in the same CDL school and went to the same company where teaming was mandatory... She got a male team partner on the first day of orientation... they teamed for one year... they became boy friend and girl friend... did very well till they moved to another company and the guy had a minor incident and the company fired him.. not sure what happened to him... but she left the company and became local driver...

Prob figured she could make up her own mind and didn't need the advice. Funny thing about advice: if it isn't asked for but is given (unsolicited) it's seldom ever taken. And i didn't see a 'what do you guys think about...?' in her post.

One other thing: she's a woman... I'm sure she knows how deplorable, creepy and sex-starved a lot of guys are. Probably better than we do, even.

Good luck to you, Flattie, whatever it is you decide.

    Yeah... good luck to Flattie....
I remember my team drivers... I had 3 females and 4 males... it didn't matter to me what gender they were... I just wanted to keep running and be done with my mandatory 6 month teaming...
The males I had... first one said his decision to team up with me had nothing to do with sex and that he didn't even feel any physical attraction to me... yeah... right... However, he used to drink constantly, he liked to stay in his underwear... it was summer... I would ignore him... But a few times he got drunk and tried to hug me... :biggrin_2552: I refused him and we ended up splitting...
Second male partner was from Puerto Rico... a rude, violent sob... He never touched me because I kept in touch with company and asked them to send us back to terminal...
Third male was Cuban... not sure why he decided to team with me... After a couple days on the road told me that I wasn't supposed to be driving a big truck because I was a woman... and that I had to "obey" him... He wouldn't let me drive much... And after 2 weeks he told dispatcher to go F himself and quit the company... I dropped him off in front of a rental car agency, he put all his belongings, his refri inside the car and took off... I drove the truck back to terminal... and kept the truck for myself... :biggrin_2559::yes2557:
Forth and last male partner was Mexican... he was married... Told his wife I was a male... :biggrin_25523: And a couple times we stopped at the truck stop near his place for him to see his wife I would have to hide in the sleeper... :biggrin_2552: We split after a week...
Not saying all males are looking for sex or are controlling or violent towards women... but I noticed a pattern... at first they seem to be all so helpful, and nice and gentle... but if they don't get what they want from the ladies, their attitude changes drastically... they can become rude, nasty, loud, sarcastic, throwing temper tantrums... :biggrin_2552: This opinion is shared by a few other female driver friends I know...
I would agree with Eska who suggested lady partners... However, there are other kind of "problems" with female partners as well... They are more emotional, they stress more easily, and also controlling...
Among the 3 lady drivers I teamed with, only one was a good teaming... We would almost never see each other... I would work my shift and she would be behind the curtain... then, I would wake her up 30 mins before her shift and she would do her shift and I would go behind the curtain... Unfortunately, she left after less then a month, upset with dispatcher...
Teaming is a constant change of partners... at the end I find it a hassle.... not very productive... besides lack of privacy, disruption of personal habits, less room in the truck... Not to say that it's uncomfortable to sleep and do everything else while truck is moving...

But hey.. Good luck to Ms. Flattie... whatever she decides... :biggrin_25519:

Kudos to you gals that can team, and tolerate it and all of its unsavory aspects.

    Like this, for example: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/threads/lady-driver-wanted.327863/

'looking for female driver to team with... unmarried woman; no close family ties' - that just screams chauvenist control freak looking for some action some way, some how. And i as a man, would tell you never to trust that one.

:biggrin_2559: LOL... Yeah.. I saw that one and thought... WTF!! :biggrin_2554::confused:
I see no lady replied to that... :biggrin_25512:

I tell you... if trucking became teaming only, I would quit trucking...
I enjoy SOOOO MUCH being all on my own in this truck... :biggrin_25520: Like my dsp says, I am the "captain" of the boat... I make the decisions here and take full responsibility for what happens. I park the truck when I want/need... I do what I need when I need without having to coordinate that with anybody else... I can enjoy the silence... sometimes only the sound of the engine... listen to the radio, whatever I want, whenever I want... at any volume I want... When I park, I can close the curtains, get comfortable, naked if I want... do my cooking... whatever... This truck is MY HOME... :yes2557:
And when it's tough out there, I hang in there, face whatever I have to face... with faith and God's help... Every experience I go thru, is a priceless learning experience... :yes2557:

Sums it up well, I think.

    Just one thing:
I suggest not being the first and having the second be bacon... terrible idea. Lol.

I teamed with wife and it was fun until very good issues showed itself. For what's it worth she did good particularly in the mountain.

Finding a driven, motivated, strong teammate is really hard. If you did find one, I would gently tease you and say it's time to marry. Remember Im teasing.

Good teams that have welded out annoying problems and difficults to a mutual benefit of money, working route etc are our Industry's future. Sorry Singles, you will be replaced by a Robot or a Team. (I was...)

I have written out many reasons and good things that wait a team. But as everyone knows a bad prospective partner can be a whole lot of trouble.

Captain of the ship with a good shop and a good set of loads etc and food etc in life is a very special place to enjoy.

Sadly alot has been deliberately taken from the Captain and said rank has been busted down to doolie unable to do anything without begging dispatch may I?
