I am willing to bet that since he is a recruiter he probably didn't know the answer to your question, so he just ignored it to "save face". Kansas sounds like one of those people we've warned you about...lol.

Class is great!! I finished all of my written testing two weeks ago. Got my doubles-triples, tanker and hazmat endorsements (need to do background check next week). Had a week off for spring break and got back at this past Monday. Tomorrow will be the 3rd day of straight-backing. I go to sleep at night and straight-back!! LOL!! Friday will begin the 45-docking. We have 7 weeks of hands-on training and by the end will have 280 hours of driving time and 1200 miles (per student!!). I know you guys (and ladies) are veterans, but my legs are killing me!! Hahaha! Up, down, in, out! 3 eight hour days of clutching! What a workout!! They're breaking us rookies in right!! I'm absolutely loving every bit of it and can't wait for tomorrow. I know I sound like an idiot, but I am beside myself with excitement! Goofy, huh? Lol!

You're welcome! And I'm so glad I did! There are some wonderful people on this site, as you've read! As for those who aren't so wonderful, well...water off a ducks back and all that. I still smile when they snarl, hehe.

I can't see your sig picture very well, if thats you, looks like your a young lady, and some people in the trucking world will use that as a excuse not to hire you. Its unfair, but some people think a young person, and women for the most part, are just going thru a phase, or in it for the wrong reasons. A friend of mine has 4 trucks he runs up and down the west coast. I sent a lady in there i use to snowboard with a few years ago for a job. He called me and laugh at me. He thought she would not be able to handle chaining tires in the winter and all things the things mountains throw at you. He also said she was to young. I told him he was an idot, she grew up in the mountains, she will do fine.

A few years latter, she's doing just that, just fine with another buddy of mine, Running a hay truck over the mountains, thru the snow, everyday. His lost. She is the only one my friend has no trouble with. Always gets the job done. Only one who has never called in sick. Only one who has not dumped hay all over Carson Pass. She loves the job, looks forward to it everyday she tells me. Keep your head up, weed thru the clowns, you'll be fine.

Some people just take to it. I wanted to be a truck driver all my life. The first time I drove in CDL school, the instructor didn't believe I had no experience. I told him I studied on how to shift these transmissions, so I had a good grasp on how to do it.

It does get easier, especially when you learn to float the gears.:biggrin_2558:
