You chimed in with your two cents saying I'm not supposed to be messing with the language filter. Tell me where this is in the forum rules....because I don't see it. I'm waiting...

Well rule three says no cursing or vulgar language but maybe you were trying to call him a duck I don't know. Oh look there I didn't have to put asterisks in duck. And now I am done, have a good one.
Pixiedust Thanks this. -
Exactly. I didn't use any vulgarity.

Pixie dust, since you were paying for the hotel already why did you not hop a plane and go to a reputable community college?
I am not necessarily endorsing the school I graduated from, but out of state students pay the same as in state students. It is a 240 hour school. You get at least 1000 hours on the road. You get plenty of time on the driving, and backing range. The drive test is by a third party DOT official-- the teachers, so they know your problems and work with you. The downside is that the school takes 10 weeks. It was from about 7am till 1pm or so weekdays.
As far as a motel, you can get weekly rates, you also can get Sub lets of apartments for temporary periods, just see Craigslist. For example, I just saw a month to month sublet of a furnished apartment for 300 dollars per month. That's not bad.
That would have been 900$ for the Apartment (2.5 months)
The school was 1,200$ or so
Books, licenses, another 300 or so.
Air plane ticket, maybe 400 (didn't really check)
Food, Maybe another 500$ There is a bus system there too.
Okay cost of everything: $3,330.00--
Not only would that have been cheaper, you would have also have gone to a much better school and have gotten plenty of time to practice driving.newbietrucker007 Thanks this. -
Yes skirting the word filter is not allowed. The filter will place ### signs in place of the offending word. Just go ahead and type the word and let it do its job.

Oh sorry, I too should have noticed that the thread was old. I think what I said might help someone else though.
I was given the worst treatment during school as a matter of fact, and it was all because of the backing. One instructor finally showed me how to turn into the problem.
Backing a straight vehicle (like a car, or straight truck) takes a whole different paradigm than backing an articulated vehicle so the whole "binary" operation is not helpful at all.
Backing requires that you go against your former training and turn the wheel in the opposite direction than you would if you were in a straight vehicle.
That is totally where I went wrong. Another place I went wrong was in the initial set-up of the vehicle. Most of this becomes a problem when you back with your truck at a right angle from the "space" you need to back into.
The advice that got my mind straight was to "steer into the problem," and to also be able to see the two sides of the space in your mirror before attempting to back, meaning you had to move up into a position where you could see your lines.
Wish the OP luck! Sounds like a wonderful job.Pixiedust Thanks this. -
good luck on thew road.
