I live in California and was wondering if i get a class A in arizona, i have to switch it back to california when i am done correct? I have also heard that you have to have your class C in that state before you can obtain a class A so will I have to get a class C in Arizona also? Thanks for any help and ill copy and paste the info that she sent me in an email. 0.25 cents a mile, good thing im not in this for the money
****Swift has developed a Training Course that will not only guide you through obtaining your CDL permit but will also track your skills as you progress. You will be assigned a User Name and Password so that you may access the course online at www.SwiftOnlineCDL.com The course is required before attending the truck school.
Students are responsible for there own meals. For non local students Swift will arrange Transportation via Greyhound, however you are responsible for the hotel cost of $500 which will be deducted from your pay at $23 per wk.
Once you have your CDL we can then schedule you for 2-3days of New Driver Orientation, followed by 6wks over the road Paid Training w/a Certified Mentor. The pay rate during the 6Wks training is Wk 1 thru Wk 4 is $450 and Wk 5 thru Wk 6 is $500 (pay is based on 7 day work schedule). Once Release from the Training Program you will be assigned your own Tractor and start to be paid .25cents per mile. During your 1st year you will receive 5 Pay Increases (3rd Month, 4th Month, 6th Month, 9th Month and 1st Year Anniversary at which point you will be paid .32cents per mile. There after your pay will continue to increase Annually until you reach the Max Pay Level on your 5th Yr Anniversary.
The Cost of the Program is $3900 and each student will sign a contract that they will work with Swift for 13 months. Over the 13months, Swift will deduct $37.50 from your weekly pay check so that by the end of the 13th Month you will have paid $1950. At that point Swift will match your $1950 to Pay Off the $3900 loan. If you decide to continue your career, and I hope that you will, Swift will reimburse you $37.50 Per Wk until you have been paid back the $1950 that you have already paid during your 1st 13months of employment. In other words by the end of your 2nd year you will have received your schooling for Free.
As an Entry Level Driver the position you will start at is an Over the Road Position where you are out for 14days and home for 2-12 Days (Your Preference). If this sounds like a Career you would like to pursue please Sign and Fax the Release form attached below so that Swift Transportation has your permission to Verify your Work History. Thank You.

I'm just guessing here but from what I have read in other posts is that you take the online course from swift to help you get your CDL permit in your home state. You then attend the school in Arizona and start learning to drive a truck, backing, turning, etc. You then go to your home state to test out and then report to orientation at your home state terminal. But please get the recruiter to verify and answer your questions.
-
And by federal law you can not drive commericially outside of your home state until your 21.
So right now your only going to be wasting your time. -
Did the recruiter you spoke to know you're not 21? I ask this because Swift's policy is not to hire under 21. Perhaps you'll be turning 21 before schooling?
-
Yes nana I'm turning 21 in October and
Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
I'm Planning on going to school I'm january
-
Okay, I figured it would be something like that. Well, check periodically with the recruiter because things do change. I attended the school in Phoenix and while it's a bit different now I felt it was a very school. I wish you best of luck.

Thanks, yeah I read the good and the bad about here about swift but I figure because they're such a big company not everyone is gonna have a good experience but as of now Im just trying to keep a positive attitude about it and hopefully it works out good. As of now it's either go to Arizona and go to the swift school or Fontana to go to the school for central refrigerated

Theres about 5-6 guys in my class from Cali right now... They ALL had to get their cdl Permit here in AZ, you go thru the course, take your CDL in AZ.. then you are sent back home to get your California CDL license.. then they come back to AZ and go out for the 240 hour mentor portion...
All the guys freaked out as they all came back with AZ drivers license..lol but where ever you are, you just go back home and get a new one then come back... from what I understand from the breaks and lunch talk..
