All 3 FFE/Lisa/AE run on different staffs. The only thing they have in common is executives and the safety department is the same in all 3. If you had a beef about anything safety related, David & Bob & Doug meant business if you went to them with anything. At least, back in '03-'04.
Lisa & FFE shared some loads, but all seperate dispatch. I wasn't impressed with FFE dispatchers. Lisa's dispatch was by region, so you could get a new one with every load. Lisa's dispatchers were very to-the-point. Hauled a lot of beef and Hershey's. FFE pulled all KINDS of foods. Both fleet managers were great at both places.
American Eagle...I was surprised at how much they got done with such a little staff. I didn't know much about them, the smaller one of the 3. All I know is they are dry van and had a lot of the same customers...maybe that's why they got away with such a small office.
But man, I might be behind the times. This was some years ago since I was last there. I know it could be much different since I was there. -
Marine green might be a good person to ask. He's currently with them.
When I was there 4-5 years ago, they didn't have 'dedicated', unless you pulled swinging meat and had been there some 12+ years. They do have some freight that could keep you in the south pretty easily, though.
Again, I'd ask Marinegreen. He's pretty happy with them and he's with them right now. He could tell you if they still have those lanes in & out of Birmingham, Murfreesboro, back to TX.
When I was there, they had a lot of that southern freight and if a dispatcher knew a driver was more than happy to run gobs of that, they'd keep that driver on it. As long as that driver was running it on-time and not causing too many problems. -
FYI:
Im not sure if this is just for FFE, but as of yesterday FFE no longer have regional drivers. They switched everyone to 48 states plus Canada if you can go there and get in. Im not sure if they did the same with Lisa or American Eagle. -
When I was with Lisa, they didn't want to admit they had dedicated or regional, but there were guys (& girls) that had been driving for decades that were always running the same loads.
Example: Pick up swinging meat in Fort Worth terminal, deliver in Bronx, pick up candy load in Hershey, PA deliver to Fort Worth. That's all that guy ran.
OR: Pick up swinging meat in Dallas, deliver to Long Beach, pick up produce in Brawley, CA, deliver in either Lubbock or Fort Worth or both.
As I said, those drivers....had been there since the early 80s.
With FFE's move...they may have chased away a lot of good drivers. -
I agree, and yes I belive locals are staying where they are as they purchase 100 days cabs in dallas 4 months ago. Im confused why they would end regional runs. Im curious though, on how many drivers are gonna quit now when they get a load going to nyc and as a company driver can not refuse it

When I was there years back, it was anywhere from 68 for new-hires fresh out of school to 72 for those who had been there a bit longer to 78 for anyone there over a year and a half.
We had problems with a few guys that had the equipment to turn their trucks wide-open and would do it for others for the right price. The shop loosely tried to catch those guys, but I think it only resulted in 2 firings.
If they start you off too slow, just don't have any accidents and keep that subject fresh on your fleet mgr's mind...they would usually get you turned up sooner. But man...that was over 3 years ago...might be different now. Might want to ask MarineGreen. He's with Lisa right now.
