FFE or Central?

    I know you can't choose for me, but I'm looking for opinions. I've down about as much research as I can and have narrowed it down to either FFE or Central. I would prefer to go with Millis, as they seem the best of the three, but I have yet to hear back from them. :(

    From what research I've done, FFE starts out at a .01 more than Central. FFE doesn't make you pay the schooling back unless you quite. I figure that'll equate to roughly $200 more a month if I choose FFE.

    Now I would prefer more money (wouldn't we all???) but, I've read more negative things about FFE and them "stiffing" employees their pay.

    I'm looking at either one of these being a stepping stone to getting some experience and then finding something local or regional. Because we all want more home time.

    I am still currently working, trying to keep all bills up, I know with FFE if I go ahead and get my permit and then go to school it'll last two weeks with first pay check 1 week out. Meaning I'll be without pay for a total of 3-ish weeks. Whereas if I got with Central schooling is 3 weeks and then their pay is two weeks out, so a total of 5-ish weeks without pay.

    Not having pay for 5 weeks will be pretty hard. Not having pay for 3 weeks won't be as hard, but still won't be easy.

    Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    The payback at Central is a whooping $22.50 a week unless you are a Vet, then it is zero.. .01 cpm extra is irrelevant if the mileage is not there.. I can not speak for FFE, but as a Central driver I average 2700-3300 miles per week.

    Just remember this business is what it is and what you make of it.. Set your expectations too high and you will be highly disappointed..

    Yeah, I understand if the miles aren't there getting paid more will be null. My expectations aren't set high. At least I don't think so. One of my goals in life is to make it to all 50 states, and this would help that. I'm wanting to provide for my family and have done so since the beginning. It's just (My Current) work has slowed down way too much and we are struggling. My wife just recently got a job and if she hadn't, we wouldn't be above water currently.

    If I can bring home $600 after taxes we will be doing good. Before hand I was making (If I had a full weeks worth of work) $750 take home and was able to support the family by myself.

    As I said before, I want to use this as a stepping stone to get the experience under my belt and start something local or regional. Since I value my family time.

    Anyway, thanks for your advice. It's much appreciated.

    $600 a week after taxes is doable, but not as a first year standard company driver.. I typically bring home more than that, but I drive on a dedicated fleet and we get paid more..

    Lease operators can easily bring home more, but you run the risk of bringing home zero or negative paychecks.. I, as do most on here, do not recommend leasing before you know what you and your DM are doing for at least a full year..
