I am currently waiting for a call back from a recruiter with FFE to see if I am hirable with a completely clean background and no tickets in 6 years.
In the meantime I have some questions, and I was hoping some of the wise men of these boards might be able to help me.
(1) I have been driving a standard Chevy pickup since about 2000, how difficult is it to relearn to drive a standard on a bigrig (I am not nearly stupid enough to think I am going to be super trucker because I mastered the C1500 lol.)
(2) If anyone has trained at Pine Bluff AR, do they have internet connection in the rooms there that the trainees are set up in?
(3) What is FFE's Idling policy like?
Honestly I am scared to death of this training and change in careers. My Grandpa on mom's side was a truck driver up until he was 76yrs old, and my dad drove up until he turned 68. I have been successful at everything I have ever tried, and I am scared of failing at something they did so well at.

Well, going to a rig isn't that much different than driving a stick in an auto. I've done both. The double clutching took a bit of time to get use to, but not much. As far as the other questions, I don't know.

Hello, everyone and hoping that everyone is safe out there on the roads. Had several wrecks here in Michigan today due to black ice. I have been reading all the threads here for sometime and have a few questions in reference to trucking companies. Tried to get on with Falcon but stated that positions are not really open for new drivers at this time. I have received several pre-hires for different companies and would like to know what some of you all think would be my best pick?
I have been offered a pre-hire with FFE, which really doesn't sound that bad. Also, have pre-hire with Arrow trucking they seem like the best as far as pay, benefits, and just a all around company. Sent a pre-hire from Steven's transport seems alright if you read through all the hoopla. and have received one from convenant transport which after reseaching that great company I don't that I will even call them back.
The pay for that company offers is not even enough to live off of, 14 cpm and your in training with a trainer for 6 months. That to me is slavery by anyone's defination to say the least. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
