I've been reading the boards here for a couple weeks now and have one simple question and one remark. First the remark... I've read so much I'm confusing the crap outa myself. lol

Ok... Now for the question. FFE Transportation seems like a good choice for a new driver to enter the profession. There seems to be frustrations from drivers as with all companies.

Any comments or suggestions of other companies I should look further into?

My home is in San Diego, CA.

Every company got there good and bad that's just how the business is.FFE is know as a "Starter Company" which means people start with a starter company, get there experience and then move on to better things.Everyone has there own opinion about a company,I never drove for FFE so I have no inside info. Also only take a gran of salt on everything you read, the bad things about a company that is,lot'a people get fired from a company for there own mistakes and come on here and make the company look bad because they are piss off at the company.

Bigarmin... I appreciate your response. What I seem to be getting from all I've read is when the drivers are willing to stay behind the wheel, put in over 500 miles a day, not ##### about loads, and not wanna go home... then they seem to get miles.

If that's all they're looking for then it's probably the company for me.

All I want is to get the miles to stay behind the wheel and be/stay safe. I don't need much home/off time. Heck... I could be out for 3 months... off for 4 days... out for 3 months... off for 4 days... and so on. My kids are older now.. I'm divorced... etc.

The only times I would really like to be home are Christmas and sometime close to my son and daughter's birthday.

I drove for about 6 months about 10 years ago right after my ex and I separated. My children were younger then and it was too difficult. I know what to expect out there and am now in the perfect stage of my life for it.

Thank you again for your response.

Getting home for xmas and birthdays etc is not always possible. Some companies are good getting there drivers home when they request it and some companies don't give a crap and would get you home day or 2 late, sometime 4 days late. That's why you gotta do your homework on a company.FFE being a mega carrier,I wouldn't be shock to hear FFE drivers not getting home on time.

Don't have to be home on their actual birthdays... just somewhere close. They're not kids anymore. All I'm trying to say is there are only 3 times a year I wanna get back. Other then that... I'm wanting to be behind the wheel. Just sayin... If a company wants someone to be on the road and not have to worry about routing back home on any sort of regular basis... Then I'm that man. Three or four days of down time 3 or 4 times a year is good with me... It's all i ask. That would mean I would be on the road for 3 to 4 months at a time... What company wanting an OTR driver wouldn't like that?

If you are willing to run like that, then I wouldn't see why ANY of the "training" companies would'nt love to have you. Just call one....tell them you need no home life....and you will be on a Greyhound in 24 hours.

Caution: They will hold you to it. First time you ask to go home....they will remind you that you told them you don't need to be home....and they will send you in the opposite direction every time.
