Fifth wheel lock CLOSES prematurely before hooking up!

    I am the opposite and do not like those Hollands. They have a weak slide plate.

    Not sure which slider you speak of, but 3 of our 5 tractors pull b-trains that weigh 120,000lbs when they’re loaded. Every one of them have a Holland wheel and never had a problem with them.

    I have rebuilt this 5th wheel using a small rebuild kit ($206 at my truck dealer). It included three springs, jaw, wedge and some small hardware.

    Also we straightened out the bumper arm, which was somehow slightly bent. In any case, now the bumper arm sits solidly on the 5th wheel and is hard to bump off (I tried with a hammer).

    I believe that the cause was that the bumper arm was a bit bent and also that the spring was weakened due to age and rust.

    Will install the 5th wheel back today. Thanks to all! 20190813_065931.jpg
