Honestly I have to recheck but I do believe you don' even need to do a lot at all... if you'e running within a 100 mile radius

Wrong again. The ONLY thing that 9th day does is triggers the requirement for an ELD. If he's already running an ELD, and he's using paper logs because the ELD is malfunctioning, he's only got 8 days to have it repaired...but that doesn't take effect until the enforcement date of the ELd mandate next month. Until then, he can continue to log line 4 for every day he qualifies for the 100 air-mile exemption, and run a road log for the days he does not qualify, and there is no need to keep count of how many days which he may or may not be logging local.

The law has NOT changed. You do not have to describe what you did at the change of duty status, only noting the location. YOUR COMPANY might want to see what you were doing, but that is not a requirement under the regulations.

Nope, one does not need to do a pre trip. One "must be satisfied" that the list of required items are in working order. There is no requirement on how one is satisfied.
If you really think it's required, could you show me the regulation please? Hint, you won't find it.
As for the post trip, it's just a paper work requirement to fill out a dvir, if work is required on the vehicle.

You are correct. No requirement to show what you did while on duty, or for that matter off duty either.

Just write whatever you want on the thing when you’re done. It’s not like you need it anyways. It’s your company asking.
