i saw a few trucks filling up diesel at a regular gas station today. Is that even possible?

Or are they skirting tax laws?

    No skirting.

I do wonder if the store girl even knows how to take taxes away for reefer fuel... *Shrugs.

We have a small station that takes occasionall larger vehicles that lumber and lurch under careful spotting close as they can get to the hose till it reaches. It will be a while filling them. Today we had a Red Cross Blood Class 7 about 30 foot long whale beach next to the fuel. On the far end out of the way completely closing off three travel pathways.

There is a truckstop not far from there over the moon as it were on that freeway. But it's been done.

When I did blacktop paving we fueled upwards of 500 gallons at a little gas station which supplied us with food and oceans of cold drinks for the fight that day in work to come. No worries if it took a half hour. Early in the morning gotta get going. Im pretty sure they liked that kind of money coming in seeing as how profit per gallon is low. (About .07 for gasoline in one station I took care of.)

    Anyway...

You do not make a habit of beaching next to a regular car gas station. There are just too much risk to even manage in places like that.

You should stay with the truckstops. Mainly for the high speed pumps. Full, 3 minutes both tanks.

In the past when I have pulled fuel from a 40 to 50's era single pump it takes a hour or more for both tanks. Gurgle gurlge gurlge. Sometimes in the worst of winter you need another half hour on top of that as well as throwing away 30 of those gallons in a roaring engine trying to keep everything warm in that cold up north.

    Just be careful is all.

Yeah you can, most likely bobtail. You still have file IFTA, no matter where you getting fuel from.

I know there no difference in the fuel always thought it’s cheaper at a gas station because of taxes. I would like to hear more from different people to. Figure this out, because if that’s the case I’ll fill up at Costco if I can.

    I dunno cheaper.

Fuel taxes are set in stone in every state you run. Buying fuel in all or some or one state for trucking earns you the prividlege to count up everything and submit to dear uncle sam for a reckoning.

Trying to seperate reefer taxes from tractor fuel is the big thing. One would argue that we filled our paver and backhoe with road motor fuel what of taxes on that? The money in the business is grossing so much revenue that worrying about minor few thousand in taxes is not a concern. "Angels Share." Or the Devil's Cut....

Takes longer to pump the fuel because the nozzle is smaller.
I've done it a few times simply because I needed fuel right then.

We have like four tanks underground there. about 3000 gallons liquid each of the fuels. All painted plain copper now.

10 semi trucks would empty one of them in a few hours. Fuel trucks come once daily usually before sunrise. Prices are set once a day. Unless national disaster or attack etc. Then up 10% per state laws against gouging. Or much more.

9-11 was one of the most mistimed fueling we did ever. hours earlier, cheap fuel, hours after something like 6.00 fuel I don't know. My company paid it without complaint. (Phew...) but if it was time for them to storm it would be that day.

If you drop your trailer and use your W/mart card you can get a good price on fuel at W/mart super stores?
