I worked for Crete for years. They are not uptight like that, they are moderately reasonable. The only real problem I ever had with Crete is having to stay out so long OTR because I was from California. Crete/Shaffer a very good company. I worked for 4 different companies and Crete was by far the best one.
Go to some truck stops and talk to real Crete drivers before you listen to anything negative about Crete. The actual drivers are the key to finding out the truth about a company: ask real Prime and Crete/Shaffer drivers if they are happy!

Crete is the cream. It floats to the top. Those below are jealous and say bad things.
Crete ain't perfect by a long shot, but one of the very best to work for. Rules? No worse than any other company, maybe above average. I could keep myself warm or cool in the bunk, I could bobtail home at hometime. They treated me with respect and gave me a BIG pay check. That's what I'm talking about!FloTheWaitress Thanks this. -
First off, thanks for your service to our country. I would go up to a truck stop and drive by the trucks looking for drivers to talk too. I would look strongly at the following companies: Abilene Motor Express, Cargo Transporters and Epes Transport. All three are good companies to choose from aside from Crete/Shaffer and Prime Inc.

The whole CDL school thing was a big long thread that got played out so I'm not going to rehash it again, but...
I was recommending it to him as a way to use part of his GI Bill and get some extra money to help subsidize his family while going to school. (This area is 1500.00 monthly, plus stipend for books) And as it's only 2 months long. (ATI is anyway) He might be able to finish it before he gets out... It was simply a suggestion, no matter what route he went.
