Bet you I was qualified BTOW and EOOW on 400 (A type), 600 (M type), 1200 D type and super D type, Stick shift and GR and Hagen, I ain't a spring chicken, I steamed the USS Lexington, CVT-16 before the designator was changed to AVT and I steamed a WWII destroyer as well as a WWII repair ship and three others, I am guessing you were a flangehead

I just think he should look at all the options and choose the best for him. I live in Virginia Beach and have talked to the people at the school you mentioned and have seen the results of some of their students, Some are very scary, some are good, none have any practical experience. He can save his GI bill for later and go to a company like prime that has no fee for training and pays the best during training.

I'm on hometime now and my bobtail is in the driveway, It has an APU, I average 3K miles per week and do better than 60K $$ a year as a company driver. You sound like you are no longer there ????

If you don't go with Prime, definitely go with a 160 hr. CDL school and get all the endorsements plus TWIC and a passport. 4 week 160 hr. school is all you need.

Tyson Foods is a good reefer company with excellent benefits and 70 mph trucks.

    Good flatbed

Those 16" guns aren't really that accurate due to remix of old and new powders. But, in Lebanon the Gunners Mates did put a 16" round inside a cave and wiped out some bad guys. Personally, the topless/nude beach in Catania made any other activities seem insignificant.

Sitting on a frigate in the Great Bitter Lake of the Suez Canal, the CO put iced beer in the liberty boat and some of us, in groups rotating, went cruising and drinking beer. Some local Muslim threw a fit when he saw me throw a beer can in the water. I actually filled the can so it would sink. Anyway, he was throwing a fit about alcohol and beer cans. Later he was back selling hash bricks wrapped in tinfoil. That was OK, but the beer wasn't as far as the Egyptian Muslim was concerned. I didn't really care, just wanted to hit port for some wine-women & song.
