Is this your own truck or a company owned truck? Company owned your limited to what you can do to accessorize / install.

If however it is your own..... Want to watch movies? You would need (my recomendation) a laptop computer. The laptop will allow internet access, e-logs, dvd player, tv tuner adapter, games if you wish, with printer scanner you can copy documentation and scan to your hard drive. Plus if you stay in a hotel room you can easily remove it to the hotel and not worry about some one pilferring your tv.

Microwave (12 volt) can be purchased through most camper / RV dealers, as well as a fridge.

A 12 volt type electric blanket is always a good idea.

Tools and spare lights, fuses. Flashlight (dont recomend mag-lites, you get them wet and the batteries will corrode making it almost impossible to get batteries out). Just to name some of the basics.

Playmates and case full of 100's. LOL. I think that's every drivers wish.

+1 for the laptop. Not only for entertainment but the google satilite image is great for checking out where your next p/u or del is gonna be. Sometimes the images are clear enough so that you can see landmarks to clue you in that your close to your destination such as Silo's, Water Towers, Bridges, etc, etc. Plus sometimes the images are clear enough that you can see which entrance to take, or where the dock doors are, etc, etc. Keep in mind that like every electronic, it's not 100% accurate all the time, so still use your map and be able to follow directions.

Aside from that here is my list,
Basic Tools, nothing fancy for a company driver, but should have screwdrivers, pliers, adjustable wrench, duct tape, zip ties. If you can make a quick repair, it saves the company money, and keeps you running, otherwise let the company worry about it.
    Flashlight
    Small hand broom
    Small Trash can
    Good Sleeping bag for winter
    Sunglasses
Some kind of organizer to keep pens, paperwork, etc.
Multi purpose cleaner and paper towels
Sun Screen for your left arm if you like driving with windows down.
    Extra Gloves
    Pics of family and friends
If you like to exercise, I always keep a dumbell, chest stretcher, and running shoes.
Digital Camera both for personal enjoyment and for picking up trailers that are already damaged, messed up loads, etc, etc.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Good luck and have a safe ride.

Not to hijack thread, but I like the ice over electric as well. I never, ever trust the electrical systems or batteries of trucks. Maybe the newer ones are better.

Definitely a company driver and thanks guys. As a straight-outta-school noob I know most I'll learn on the road but just like pickin yalls brains. Don't think my comp has too many restrictions but its a flattop volvo so my biggest thing is space. Definitely think my Igloo will be riding shotgun!

I really liked the seat cover organizer for the passenger seat. You can find it at most T/S for about $20.

Big thumbs way up on the laptop. Add Google Earth, Drivers Daily Log, and a good mapping program such as MS Streets and Trips. Note: do your route planning from an Atlas, use MS to note street names before turns, etc.

Cooler: I used a small electric one for drinks and a larger ice one for food.

And MY FAVORITE (add choir sounds) COFFEE POT!!!!!!!

An easy trash can is to get the plastic bags with handles, you know the kind from grocery stores. Hang this from the passenger arm rest. Easy access, and you know when it is full its right there as you head out the door.

In reply to REDD, another item that needs to go in the truck. You the driver! grin

But remember that in case of getting fired you have to get all that stuff out and home or thrown away or sold! The laptop is great. The scanner printer if not the small "travel" type can be sold or trashed. The same with the cooler, microwave and coffee pot.

This link, page 17 Post #168 is your clothing list and necessary things but just remember if you have to bail from the truck if it doesn't fit in your bags to go on a bus or plane you don't need it or can afford to trash it! And believe it or not my tool bag will fit in my clothing bag also. I just spread the tools out in it and fold the bag up along with the CB! The antenna I used to carry on and put on the floor of the plane but it does freak out those TCA people! I had one actually ask me if it was a spear! My Wilson 4' fibreglass 1000! I almost fell to the floor LMAO!
