Yes! Definitely tools! Keep an emergency kit for breakdowns in the desert and wyoming in the winter. Water, matches, couple cans of food, toilet paper etc... Make sure you keep some 100 cash. In the winter when the roads are shut down and you are stuck at a truck stop for days they run out of cash in the atms and power can also go out preventing you from getting cash. A trick I learned along time ago was to buy erasable markers and write your directions and need to knows right on the window where you can see them without taking your eyes off the road.

One other thing that is the law: if you lease or buy a truck you must keep all the paperwork in the truck. Dot will ask for it.

A small first aid kit would be a good idea to add. One with some band aids, antibiotic ointment, some sort of cleansing pads or cleaner, burn ointment, gauze pads, and some of the new wrap that does not require tape. If you have a farm supply store near you, it is sold as VetWrap (comes in a variety of colors this way) and is cheaper than what you pay at the pharmacy for the stuff. That stuff is great for bigger cuts on areas that are a pain to tape. Can also be used on slight sprains as it is like an ace wrap. This stuff has been around for years in the horse industry.
Keep some food and beverage in your truck as some of the others have mentioned. Not only is it handy if you get stranded, it also helps when you are stuck waiting at a loading dock forever.

Make sure you have matches...why you ask if you dont smoke....well to light that big old three wick candle sitting in the old coffee can. Now wait a minute you didnt say this was a candlelight vigil it's big truck for gods sake. Well driver a three wick candle in a coffee can will provide heat to a cold truck. Granted we aint talking forced air heat but it will help keep the truck warm. Get a real good sleeping bag and keep extra blankets too. Seeing as how everyone else mention food I figured I wouldnt
