Glad to see your still at it strong!! We spoke before, I’m from Connecticut and inquired about the team operation only because I like your work ethic. I’m happy to hear you found a teammate. I know, I was too far from you to make things work but it does seem like you put together a great team.
I ended up going W2 for a small company. I just luv those small companies who don’t micromanage drivers. OTR as well but my pay is a little different than others. I now get paid by the hour. Yes, by the hour. I know, it’s weird so I asked many questions. The ONLY time I don’t get paid is when I’m sleeping. It’s also no touch, delivering to food warehouses. Fueling, trailer washes, waiting, traffic and so on is ALL the same rate of 23.00 an hour which I negiotated. He offered 22.00 but I wouldn’t accept. All straight time but I can’t complain. So far I’ve been hitting 69-76 hours. Not too bad but 2 decades of experience and living in the Northeast does help.

Nevertheless, you mentioned per diem... is that really true? Can you show me a tax document that says no more per diem for company (W2) truck drivers? And how can I increase my overall pay (with words) to my boss so that he would consider partial per diem? I want to make it very lucrative for him to issue per diem in my gross pay. Hopefully you can help. Thanks in advance. Dan

I did not find a team mate. I did but was not allowed to hire him.

And yes W2 employees may not take the per diem deduction anymore. For 2018. The Trump tax plan they passed gets rid of itemized deductions. So it's in yours and your employer's best interest to get it from the corporation.

My most recent paycheck. With your help I can reduce my gross by adding per diem. Thanks again.
And convincing my boss so that’s it’s a win/win situation.

How would you convince him/boss to add per diem?
