No! Go back to the shipper and they will drop the overage.

I'm guessing you have a sliding tandem 53' van. If you run it, slide the tandems one hole back

I don't run that area, I've never seen or heard of anybody being shut down for less than several thousand pounds over. As far as I know anything under 2000 lbs is ticket only.

I'm all for being legal and all th

I have a 53 reefer with 1/10 of fuel in it. My tractor has 1/4 of fuel.
@ least I met a nice guy here, he knows the story and saw the scale ticket. He said, he will bring me home if the company fires me. Fingers crossed. lol

Personally I would have gone back to the shipper. One state or two, yes, but FL to CT is a long way to go with basically no fuel

SENT VIA TEXT TO MY BOSS:

    After much thought....

I need to do the right thing (the legal thing) and head back to the shipper after steer tires get replaced.
I’m risking way too much driving heavy. Not only fines but the safety of others.

I understand you will be VERY mad and you might fire me. I’m sorry if that is the case.

    2CAN Thanks this.

I would look at all options.

It's Friday afternoon, what happens if they won't cut weight? Want to sit all weekend?

Pissed off customer? Some get mad, some will drop weight and not care.

Can you fuel anywhere you want as often as needed?

If you run the area alot you should know when scales will be open or closed.

I can't answer all of these as I'm not there. Your company said they will pay the fine if you take it. Whats that tell you?

Why is 700 lbs such a bid deal to offload at the shipper? They always did it for me. With produce it happens all the time. Often they overload you on purpose to know how much they can cut after. Washington onions and potatoes come to mind and that wasn't nice if there were no scale at a shipper and the nearest public scale was 20 miles away.
