Sorry... I get a lot of crap on this forum for being a broker lol. The self righteousness of that is starting to irritate me a bit. Everyone on this forum is trying to figure out how to squeeze every last nickel out of the industry so that they can live a good life. Being held to a radically different standard (even though my business is full of good old fashioned scum bags who actually are greedy in a borderline sinful way) than everyone else is getting a bit old.

I don't make any claim to being better than anybody else. That's for people who put religious stuff in the name of their company. I like to think I have above average ethics for a broker, but again that's entirely because my business model requires repeat business from trucks. I actually really dislike morally superior people lol. That's what being a crappy preachers son will do for you I guess.

Have you thought about getting a different trailer? Maybe going reefer or flat?

If you wait till may you missed the 2nd best paying freight in florida. Strawberries. The best paying freight runs year long, but i think I'll keep that one to myself.

Brokering berries is a terrible idea or I'd be right there with you. In season the lowest load value you'll see on berries is 34k. Add to that a relatively short shelf life, hilarious temp sensitivity, and exempt cargo insurance status and you have the perfect storm. I wouldn't do berries for 600 bucks a load to me, and I'm generally happy moving a more stable load for a third of that.

Great freight if you're a good driver with a good reefer though. I just can't guarantee that often enough for it not to be a terrible idea as a broker.

That's the catch alright.... When you see a load that don't look right there's always a catch. 'Load is 1.4G Hazmat' is probably my favorite of all time. The load was literally fireworks that were classified as high explosive. If that driver had the wrong accident he was going to burn.

EDIT: Any time someone is offering me something too good I want to know why. Right away. Because you really dearly want to know what the catch is. Every time I get something too good to be true it's because I did the offering lol.
