I got DOT'd in Limon on one of my first trips with Quality Carriers. Guy found 2 brakes out of adjustment. Was a newer trailer that was supposed to have auto adjusters but for some reason our shop put 2 manuals on the front trailer axle and I didn't notice. Got put OOS and he wouldn't let me adjust them because I didn't have one of the cards from the company saying I'd been trained in brake adjustment and was ok to do it. Guy wrote me for the out of adjustment, and for having manual adjusters on a trailer made after 1994. And I had to get the TA come and adjust them. I checked every trailer after that to make sure that if it was a '94 or newer it had autos. Maybe half of our trailers were older than that. And this was in 2009.

I have only had 1 company out of many, give me a card. I think that was because of Wisconsin Dot, also got a card saying off duty for lunch.
