    Hi,
usually it is sad to hear all the "no can do attitudes" on this forum directed to the newcomers.

But i am going to at least add one positive happening at this time. I hope it will last.

I drive for an owner operator with his own authority that lease with CHR.
The truck has been making $16k-$19k a month. Expenses has not reach 40%.
Me personally makes right at $4000 a month.

CH Robinson gets a bad rap, but it is working out for us. And we are out of Florida. Florida being a less than $1 load state. We typically try to run Texas to the Midwest. But occasionally may have to go to the Northeast.

It would be nice for a change to encourage newcomers and not be so negative towards them. I personally don't have alot of experience and I am doing fine.

May we can open a new section for drivers with the "CAN DO ATTITUDE".

    JoBernard Thanks this.

Nope, won't happen. I think there are just too many people on websites such as these (similar to CB BS) giving out their limited / failed experiences playing couch quarterback sitting behind their keyboards. A lot of them will sprout off about a third party (a friend, friend of a friend, a friend of a friends' 2nd cousin on distant relative, etc...) epic story or their "2" days personal experiences that winded up crashing and burned but naturally it was all someone / company elses' fault. It's one thing to asked how they did it themselves but asking about their opinions..........well you know what they say about opinions?

Some that "asks" aren't any better either. If you have an "idea" / business plan that are sound and have the means to act upon it, then go for it. Do you really need to have someone to validate your ideas from people who don't know anything about you in the first place? (Your work habits, business experiences, education, financial support whether from family or friends, trucking experiences -behind the wheel or other aspect of it, etc...) Know who, what and how to ask (o/o, former o/o, company driver, L/O, accountants, lawyers, etc...) the questions that you need to have answered to, not just "shop" around for the answer you want to hear whether it's true or not. Sometimes the truth and what you want to hear are not the same.

With all that being said, as with anything in life, an individual miles varies. If success was so easy, everyone would have attained it and we wouldn't have any failures.

Life as in politics, it's always easier to point finger and say what the problems are, instead of finding solutions to the problems. When asking anything on the web or anyone else for that matter, try to emphasized what their personal experiences are, kind of back ground history / qualification and to elaborate on their story so you can get the larger picture. "Take everything you're being told with a grain of salt" - a voice of experience. :biggrin_255:

You'll fare better in life with a "Can do" attitude. And I've hauled CHR loads. Some are OK, some suck. That's life.

Success in trucking is a matter of mastering your market and having the discipline to manipulate it, and that's true in every other business: we are ALL "buyer" of one thing or another, and want the cheapest price possible, because let's face it, we're all cheap!!! It is the heart of the wise in all things that figure out ways to make us pay two to three times more than we want or ordinarily would. In business you have to decide whether to be the Wal-Mart or the 7-Eleven, because just about everything in between is struggling, Jo Bernard

If your running an average of $1.40 a mile I can confidently gather that you are not "demanding" much more, I already know you are not asking $3-4.00 a mile because that sound so outrageous to you to ask people that bulk at $2.00 a mile.

They have dupe you into believing "they" set the price, "NO" "the market" set the price, and if you are oblivious to the market you are oblivious to your earning potential, and they know that; so they exploit truckers all day long, when they realize you don't know your market they love to see you coming, because even if there is not another truck within 300 mile radius and even though they have booked the load for 5-6-7.00 a mile, because you don't know your market they might let you get away with making 2.00 a mile on the load:

I can also pretty much guarantee you that "they" are quoting you their price and you try to eek out a little more, that's the wrong game to play, when you're in a strong market doggedly quote your price and ignore anything they have to say about their price.

Do that until somebody get's desperate enough to take your price, which meas you may have to wait, sometimes even a few days but it's better than running for nothing and deceiving yourself that you're making all you can make, Trucking is like any other business there is no excuse for not knowing and exploiting your market.......Jo Bernard
