Financial question, maybe someone can help

I am wanting to become an OTR truck driver, I've been reading these forums off and on for the past few months and feel like I would love to give the life of a trucker my best shot. I live in north eastern Kansas and have found a school to get my CDL right in my neck of the woods, Road Masters in KCMO. The only thing stopping me is the cost, I'm sure I would qualify for their loan of around $6500 for the 4 week course, however I would rather get assistance for it and not be tied down to a loan. I tried for a Pell grant, but the course is too short to qualify apparently. Making a short story long, sorry. Does anyone know of a program/grant/scholarship that I could tap in order to get the ball rolling?

You know, I'm not saying what you said isn't true, but I either hear that the industry is doing fine and projected to get a lot better, or that it sucks and is only getting worse. I've also got to wonder how much money the drivers who make nothing are making. Because $40,000 a year might seem like a lot to one person and nothing to another. I understand that there will always be two extremes to everything, but where can a guy who really wants to know the truth of it get the right answers.
