Thank you for your response to my question. My wife & i have talked it over & have gone over lots of options & we have decided to get another motor & put it in the old truck. I agree with you 100% that its much better to have the small payment for a while on the engine than to be married to a new truck with a MONSTER Payment!

Literally just went through this same issue.Had my engine blow at 999,299 miles 2006 Cummins ISX. I keep my truck up and know that there were no issues other than the engine. If I bought an new to me truck I have no idea what other issues I could run into once I bought it.That leaves the issue of payments and repair bills.I decided to buy another engine and keep rolling with my truck. I have to agree with a replacement engine.

Yeah, I have to side with getting a crate motor and dropping it in. As long as the rest of the truck is in decent shape. I am very pleased with the factory remanned Detroit 60 in my ride. Cummins does N-14 remans pretty good also. That is one of my favorite motors. Less downtime to do a crate motor, you get a OEM warranty that is on par with a new engine, and you save some green by not shelling out for another truck and the potential headaches. A little more costly than doing an inframe or shop rebuild, but this is one area where the term "you get what you pay for" really means something.
