I'm sure hot shotting is just as much if not more over capacity than big trucks are currently...

You asked where to find loads as it seems to be getting slower and slower. My response was referring to the Overcapacity in the industry whether it's hot shots or big trucks... To many trucks on the road right now.OLDSKOOLERnWV, HarRav and 4mer trucker Thank this. -
I have had plenty of them, it depends on which state, and sometimes which county as for the dollar amounts. Lowsiana is my favorite and the cheapest I know of.
I have had anywhere from a 10 dollar fine in lowsiana to 1800 and 6 months probation in Kansas.HarRav Thanks this. -

I had a friend that run a light hotshot. He somehow got hooked up with a airplane deal and hauled parts all over the country, were talking lightweight parts. he had a 24 foot gooseneck, but ran the parts a lot of the time in his half ton pickup. Something you might look into, there is iirc bell helicopter in Amarilllo too.

I honestly don’t see how hot-shot outfits make it. I’d venture to guess their expenses aren’t that much lower than a class 8 setup, but they can’t haul a fraction of what a class 8 can. Only markets I can see them working in is light bulky stuff ( boats, a/c units, and the like), but even then they usually don’t have the deck space of a 53’ flat.
I understand that they are saving some on fuel mileage over a class 8, but it’s not all that much. I’d say maintience cost would be higher for a hot shot.
