Trying to scope out some outfits to apply for...Been working local, paid hourly... which has been dandy, but the pay is too low and now our hours are going to be cut for our off-season. Boss keeps assuring me we'll be fine, but I can see the signs already.I'm 22 years old. No endorsements currently, but would be willing to shell out to get them, if it was for the right opportunity. Hazmat seems expensive to carry if you're not doing the work. I find the idea of hauling gas intimidating - not to mention at my age the hiring requirements usually count me out anyway. Still like the idea of dry bulk, but haven't found anyone that would take me on before I'm 23.
My experience:
6 months OTR/regional - 6 months interstate local.
Dry van and reefer
No endorsements - can obtain.
Seeking:
Will hire at 22yrs old
Local - but would be willing to be out 2, maybe 3 nights a week if the opportunity were right
$18+ hr
No super heavy lifting / unloading - Not lazy, but I do some dockwork now, and even while doing it for 6+ months, I can't move anything heavier than 50-70lbs (depending on dimensions). It's good to know my limitations.
No more than an hour commute from the immediate Atlantic City area.
Anybody have suggestions or leads? Been skimming Indeed, craigslist, etc and haven't turned up much. Been keeping track of local outfits I've seen running the roads - many don't have an online presence, and I'm not really sure how to inquire about openings, requirements, etc.

clausland Thanks this.

NFI requires you to be 23, so unfortunately they're out for the time being!
And the NEMF equipment I tend to see on the road looks pretty horrible. Can't make money if I'm broke down...
