Has anyone every run into being fined for delivering early? We had a contracted load that suppose to deliver on a certain date, and the driver showed up 3 hr before midnight, and they offloaded the truck. Next morning, i got contacted by broker and got fined $250 for delivering too early. Is there any way to recover this amount?

Nope. Read your rate confirmation carefully. I'll bet it was clearly stated in the fine print. :)

Depending on the companies don't you normally have about a 2 hour window to drop or hook? If your 10 hours early then yeah some might not like that...

Whenever the broker will be fined for early / late delivery (which gets passed on to the carrier), they have always warned me on dispatch of the load.

I have run into getting fined for early delivery or pick up a few times.

For the last few months I have a pickup that I have a 45 minute window or I get a $200 fine at the guard shack. I have paid the fine once for showing up at the guard shack 5 minutes early. Now I sit 13 minutes up the road and leave 10 minutes till so I can get there about 5 minutes into my window.

You have to read over all the paperwork before you except the run. Some times the information is in small print and easy to miss.

You know what the Aussies do with sheep that are smart enough to escape their pens during shearing time? They kill them. I guess you aren't stupid enough for them.

If they didn't want it they shouldn't of took it. There was nobody twisting their arm. How hard is it to say we only unload at your given appt time?

I never heard of that nonsense. Somebody wanting you to be their warehouse.

First thing I would do, would be to check with the receiver and see if they actually got paid the fine. I suppose it is possible that the broker is trying to scam you.

One would think that being early is a good thing, meaning that the truck driver is doing all he can do to make sure the freight is being delivered, and NOT be late.
