what about going into Canada? I bet they would really freak out if they found a gun in your truck.
They are banned up there, aren't they?

you can claim a firearm at the border in canada. BUT, you must have all the proper ID and paperwork as well as a reason for wanting to carry the firearm in the first place.

now that is for the everyday person wanting to carry one across the border. i am unsure on the laws in canada reguarding firearms in a CMV. i bet that is a whole other can of worms there.

more information can be found at http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5044-eng.html

If you go into Canada you are SOL, there is a form you can submit to each province asking for permission to have a gun in your truck but it is almost impossible to get it approved!!

I have crossed INTO Canada from the USA with a rifle numerous times and it is totaly LEGAL. On two of these occasions my truck was inspected as was my guncase. I had my paperwork in order and the border agents even complimented my on my gun. This was in my Kenworth.

Yes you are going to be okay with a hunting rifle but most drivers are going to have a handgun in the truck which is not legal without the proper paperwork!

you can go into canada with a firearm rather easy. Just don't do it with a restricted or prohibited firearm.

For pistols that would mean a barrel longer than 4 1/2" and no more than a 10 round magazine.

I have a concealed carry license and my only sacrifice is leaving my guns at home :( During hometime I am always armed. I guess they are afraid to give guns to truckers because a lot of them get pissed off over little things. Before I became a trucker I thought I would need it but everywhere I go has security checkpoints so it is just me and the other truckers in the lot.

    MNdriver Thanks this.
