I've delivered to Dover AFB when I had a firearm in the truck. I declared it at the gate, the SPs took custody of it, and it was returned to me when I left.

There is no federal law on carring a firearm in a CMV, there are areas in the country that have a no deadly weapons law, but thats state law, not fed law, you do not need a carry permit to just have it in the truck, but if you choose to carry it concealed, youd better have the permit if your ever stopped

When I was a company driver at Trans am the shop people would use their key open your door and youd be sleeping after running all night!! Easy solution was get a ratchet strap with he hooks on each end run it through the door handles and tighten it a little!! I have also run the seatbelt thru the door handles to keep the shop people from opening my door while I was asleep

incorrect on the no permit to have it in the truck. you can have it in the truck, but if you are caught without a permit you are pretty much dead meat. 99% of the states consider a gun in the car/truck or what ever a concealed weapon. no permit = jail. now states like arizona, georgia and florida for example, no permit is needed to carry in a vehicle. new hampshire has open carry with no license, but get caught with one in a vehicle or carrying it concealed with no permit. your in hot water.

    http://www.handgunlaw.us

that site will give you all the information you need as far as where you can and can not go with or without a permit. be warned though, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to verify the information prior to testing the waters. better to be safe than sorry.

    Federal Law.

Yes, you can transport a gun in your truck and not be in violations of the local laws.

And the actual federal link to the same law and it's history.

well i am talking about practicality. hold on mr criminal, let me get my ammo and load my gun so i can defend myself................................stupid to carry one and not have it loaded when the steps to do so are fairly easy in all but a handful of states. and i dont care what the federal law says, get caught with one in california or NJ or new york. your gonna have a bad day.
