Fired, because of rumors. I have been applying for other jobs.

Sorry you feel that way buddy  personally I can see why companies do put the cameras there and the benefits like I said the inward facing camera is not running all the time. However just like we change the channel if we don't like the content we can change jobs if we don't like the camera's however you will find more and more companies will start to use them because of the reduced costs by insurance companies which is one of the reasons some companies have to derate the speed of their trucks. And also the prevalent use of mobile phones and other electronic devices while driving is just plain dangerous. The more incidents caused by their use will result in more companies putting in driver facing cameras.

That's what people used to say about ELDs and a long list of other liberty stealing trash.

This is not about liberty, this is about people who don't want to be held responsible when they drive distracted. If this was about liberty, then they should get rid of cameras everywhere. Nobody bats an eye when their dash camera catches someone hitting their truck, but what if they record some people in the truck parked across from them who are getting it on or peeing in a bottle or whatever it is that requires privacy?

What should make people sick is when people hide behind terms like liberty to push back against measures that help hold people accountable for their actions.

I don't disagree with you, @loudtom , but I will say one thing: if this was only about holding people accountable for driving distracted, then the cameras (especially the inward-facing camera) would only run when the parking brake was released.

I still disagree with him. That truck is not only an office but your living room and bedroom. For some it's even a bathroom. Drivers deserve privacy and privacy is liberty and a right.

Plus holding drivers accountable is highly debatable. Take your hand off the wheel to pick your nose? Negligent. Look away from the road as you sneeze? Reckless. Yawn...dangerous and tired. Frankly, a shark of a lawyer will use any recording to hurt the driver and carrier more than it will help them.

I agree. The reality I that the townspeople will be out chasing the driver with torches when something happens regardless of who’s at fault. So for that reason I refuse to have a driver facing camera, mostly because I Love picking my nose so much.

Great analogy! You're absolutely correct. Anyone that's been in this business for more than a year or two knows good and well that everything ultimately falls on the driver no matter what so why on earth would a carrier want to give them more rope to hang them with?

The cameras are always recording, when that light comes on it's saving a 15 or 20 second clip, that's what I've been told by the one person I know who puts up with that crap.
