As long as you've got a choice to work somewhere else, your rights end where another person's begin. The owner of that truck has a right to protect their assets. It's not like we're talking about hidden cameras in the sleeper. Close the curtain if you want privacy, or find another place to work.

Dash cam videos are discoverable in court. Why produce what’s potentially more ammunition for the slip-and-fall bottom feeding parasites? That would be stupid.

That’s also why even some of the big companies have disabled their inside cams.

No doubt. Forward facing only for this Carrier. Those thinking driver facing will help them are naive.

The Supreme Court has ruled that the right to privacy applies far less to motor vehicles than it does to a house. But I do think that the driver's privacy should be respected when he is off duty or in the sleeper.

That's not "holding drivers accountable" for unsafe driving, that's just being anal and looking for a reason to write somebody up and dock their bonus.

We've had several drivers who were helped when the inward facing camera proved that they were doing everything right.

Even in the absence of an inward facing camera, a shark lawyer can still convince a jury - a jury of four-wheeler drivers, mind you - that the truck driver and/or the trucking company was at fault.

If I had to choose I’d want a driver facing camera of my own going to a cloud or a drive that only I can access. Then I’d have control over it and be able to use it if needed.

You know... A driver has not really "lived" or become "fully experienced" until he has past the acid test of being fired.
It is a great confidence builder. Proves that life does go on.

I could care less what the USSC says about anything.

I laughed reading this one.....the company ain't worried so much about you picking your nose, but whether you take your eyes off the road to try to flick it out the window :biggrin_2559:

I honestly can see the driver facing camera ordeal becoming an industry norm for all companies. One good lawsuit and many companies will go under, or have to pay monster judgments. Many of you are mad at he wrong people, and it's the same way I feel about elds. You can't be mad at companies making that decision, but you have to direct your anger to the drivers that caused these measures to be taken. I know, I know. Why should an entire industry be punished for a few bad apples? Because those few bad apples made a decision that turned out to be devastating. I know y'all remember the fuel hauler who crashed some years ago. I think it was in Arizona. He was watching porn while going down the road. Be mad at him. He had a hand in turning the industry upside down. There are quite a few drivers like him. It's a lot of cause and effect in this industry. Poor decision by a few causes major changes. Many drivers don't do enough to protect the industry, where they work, or other motorists.....so here we are.

I’m not for or against the cameras but as mentioned driver facing cams open a huge door and if any think they’d be exempt from doing time then I think you might be wrong

There’s not a single driver who 100% of the time is driving exactly as the law says we should be

Any wing nut lawyer could rip your video footage apart
    Now.
If it truly only goes back that 5-10 sec and it shows you playing video games rolling down the road then you deserve it
Or if it shows you driving correctly it’ll show that

But I have to believe like cell phone data that all of your driving habits can be retrieved not just 5-10 seconds and therefore that lawyer will be able to show all the errors you’ve made in a day
