I'm not making light but when you stated 100% is on the driver I take exception.
My apologies to you as no harm was meant.

I accept your apology, to be honest, I took no offense. It frustrates me that I can no longer drive. Heck, I can't even do the George Jones riding mower thing! I guess I am closer to a trucker wannabe today. I was forced off the road because of my health.

    NavigatorWife and Dennixx Thank this.

@Moose1958 ...If mobility is a problem, don't mess around with a wheelchair or one of those wimpy little electric scooters. Get one of these instead. That way when you want to go to town you can just go. Problems with handicap access in town? Make your own![IMG]

I had dinner last night with a friend that works as a Safety Critter and we discussed this topic. This company has about 250 tractors and their average safety bonus is $1200 a year. They have had tractors damaged by strong winds and even had one flipped over several years ago. Things like road hazards etc they won't ding the driver, but most of the time when winter weather caused the accident they do. They have a policy if there is a DOT recordable the driver is coming in to discuss it. The blame depends on that conversation and the police reports. This company also has a very complicated insurance coverage policy that has a mixture of self-underwriting with the insurance company underwriting some situations. They go by the insurance company when it comes to blaming.

To me, this is the bottom line. These go-no-go decisions are critical. I have driven many times in the snow. In fact, unless you operate only in places like Florida it's hard to avoid it. You make that decision to drive in snow and get involved in a DOT recordable there is a great chance you are going to own that accident.
