when we were with Fed Ex Custom Critical, it didnt matter if we werent under a load. We were not allowed to drink PERIOD, unless we were home on time off. They looked at it as we were still representing them and we could be called to haul a load at any time. Even if we took the truck off the board and went to a hotel WE WERE NOT ALLOWED to drink. you need to call in and be relieved of all duty. otherwise u can be called to take a drug or alcohol test.

just re read the OP...you were over the legal limit to even be driving a car....sucks man but glad you didnt hurt anyone...did u wait 4 hrs before driving back to the DC ?[/QUOTE]
Hey, I'm the OP. The test showed 0.018 which is about one fifth the legal limit. In fact it is below the reliable reading for the device. But it turned out to not be a bad thing - now, I'll get a better Job. I have to decide between three who want an answer now. See below, any informed opinion would be helpful for this difficult decision. -
Hey, I gotta decide and it is hard! Keen or K&B or Transcarrier.
Transcarrier: this would be the easiest job with nicer weather Dry vans @ about $950/week
Keen: Good reputation and KILLER rigs. A much harder job - flat beds and training toward heavy/oversize. The mileage pay is good but the miles are low and I have to participate in all the loading/unloading. first year or two it would pay about $900-1000/week. But I could learn to be a heavy hauler *AND* they offered a $4,000 sign-on bonus.
K&B: Pay is good: about $1140/week and more or less guaranteed (salary). It is a job I already know how to do and that I'm very comfortable with. I'm leaning toward them because the yard I will work out of is very close by and it is a safe move for me.
If anyone has reliable feedback on these companies - particularly Keen - I'd like to hear from you.
THANKS! -
