Feel like I should share my story on my previous experience with a company and there xata electronic log. I was fired from stylecrest mobile home parts distributor out of Waco, tx (not there main location) because of that stupid electronic log (xata) or at least that's what they said the reason was even though they also stated that they have a points system and my points were too high and they'd probably fire me anyways even if there points system could be proven inaccurate which could be and was so theirs that. Anyways the problem I was having with this thing was I'd run up to the limit on my hours some days and end up stopping the truck at a truck stop at 13 hours and 59 minutes but before I had the chance to manually log off the e-log would inevitably keep me on duty not driving for a minute or so putting me in violation even though I was parked at a truck stop not a customers location so I told my supervisor that was an issue with these things he said no problem will take care of it well he didn't and I ended up getting fired over it. Yes I know and told them these things track location and you could tell I was parked at a truck stop not at a customer location but they didn't care.. Good thing was I was able to get over 9,000 in unemployment compensation from them by the grace of God. Anyways I just thought I'd share my story that maybe it possibly could help someone else.

You weren't in violation anyways. You can work over the 14 hour mark as long as you want. The only way I can see that you'd be in violation is if you drove over 11 hours. You have a 14 hour window to drive 11 hours but you can work as long as you want so it sounds to me like you got fired for BS reasons and just a breach of company policy and nothing else.

company fired you, they have that right in texas, and they paid the consequences of that, as you were awarded unemployment. And no there was no problem with the elogs, but with your understanding of the regulations and how they work together...

also, i agree, the company probably does not understand the 8/11/14/70 hour rules either...
But the state of texas agreed with the driver, that he did nothing wrong to be fired, and was awarded unemployment.ThatFlatbedGuy2013 Thanks this. -

I have to agree with OP my company runs xata e-logs and they will steal time from you. One truck we have as soon as you stop it takes 2 min of drive time before you can hit stop and go on duty. And definitely take your berth and 1/2 hour break to 1 min over. I rarely ever max out my hours so it is not a problem for me.
