That is why I posted the way I did about having all sorts of home time, failing to even finish delivery.

675 on a thousand mile run, potentially a day and half maybe roughly, I'll have to refine that trip planning I'll take it. I made half that gross 40 years ago on percentage.

Someone talked about sleeping for free. It's not that bad in the new generation trucks today provided you can idle through the day or night or whatever. It's actually luxurious. What is FREE with a sleeper berth are two things, One you can log with them and be more flexible. Two no hotel bills. Now that is nice. Once in a while it is good to get out of that truck for the hotel, provided it is a nicer one or even home a few days.

In addition to the problems of work ethic that isnt there anymore, you have a new generation apparently not willing to be Truckers. It's not just a JOB, but something that should fulfill a certain type of people such as myself. If medicine was perfect and fixed all of my current problems and somehow I get back on the big road, (Look out world...) it would be a joyful occasion, but ONE carefully chosen depending on what specifically is or is not done by a particular employer. I need to do it old school as possible that means less computer crap other than what is already in that rig.

Companies have abused the drivers long enough for decades paying .32 or whatever. That gets stopped. IF you can get the wages of a honest by god beautiful PROFESSIONAL DRIVER... *Hammers counter... to what? 30 dollars a hour or maybe .65 a mile on up? Pay him. Everything else will settle in a industry without drama, complaints, excessive turnover etc. It is enough to have a 18 wheeler out there times however many you run with a company each day to think about.

And judging by the increasing volume of drug posting etc... I am getting to think Employers actually cannot find People to work, and pass a drug screen to boot. THAT is a problem. A real and growing problem. We will talk about that some other time.

You can drive (legally) well over 900 miles in a 24 hour period, depending on posted speed limits. Example, if the posted is 75mph, you could drive 1050 miles and still be legal in a 24 hour period.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

You can cover 900 miles in 24 hours in a ideal situation. Add an unload and a reload that took so long he got pissed?

    Not likely

He took a greyhound here and I seated him in the truck that day. Not rocket science...
