QC doesn't pay fsc, they have a fuel stabilization program. I believe IC's pay $.25/ gal, but you have to average 6.5 mpg to get the $1.25. If you have a lower mph average, you pay more.

I guess I should explain it this way......QC keeps the FSC and uses that money to "buy down" / "subsidize" the cost of fuel. If you can't average 6.5 mpg, you pay more, if you can do better, the floor is $1.25.

I worked for another company that had a very similar program without the mpg requirement. For guys with trucks like mine (5-5.5 mpg) it worked out better. Guys that got over 6.5 mpg, it worked out worse.

You still loving it? I think about doing it almost every day. I make good money where I am now and home every day and weekends just getting tired of handling the freight.

Why not switch to a local tanker job or take a company position with QC to learn the freight lanes? Run as a co guy (but keep track of everything as an O/O would) for 6 months then buy a DB truck if you really want to.

    Rix43 and Bigredhammah Thank this.

I’m the sole income for my family so any decision I make I have to think about family first as to where I need to make same as I do now or more

    I completely understand @Bigredhammah .

I guess my advice should be general advice to anyone thinking of buying a DB truck that isn't currently with QC. QC has some good paying loads and lots of cheap ones. I hear about guys getting stuck with a $2,000/ month payment and either don't like the work or the are constantly running their butts off to make that payment. A lot of the good paying loads go to regular drivers that have been with the terminal 10+ years, you're not getting those loads unless the regular driver is sick our on vacation

I am still here. I do still like QC, but will not recommend a DB Krumble Truck. Going on 2 years so the newness has wore off

QC’s rates are “ok” at best, but they do keep way to much of our money for the mediocre service they give us vs the 38% they keep. Special rates and lanes are not for senior drivers at all, you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

QC is 4 Times more strict than the US DOT, and will disqualify Drivers for breaking QC rules; which really cracks me up, because they let more people go than they can hire. QC does act as if they’re a superior company to work for and as if there is a waiting list to join QC. Reality is QC and their rates are “ok” at best, and no one is jonesing to work here.

The fuel stabilization is a sad joke. You get about 1/2 of what other companies pay. How this is legal is beyond me.

DB Krumble Trucks - ain’t no way in ... will I ever wish this program to anyone - ever. This program is an embarrassment to QC and should be ended immediately. Don’t do it. Yes I have one of their trucks - and I will stick this out, because I signed my name and I can afford to. Absolutely I would make more money - with benefits - as a company driver. My wife works, we have no kids at home, and my mortgage is small - or else I would not be able to do this with a DB Krumble Truck.

The trucks - most guys spend $30k in major repairs the first 2 years; not including preventative maintenance and tires. Now; if we would of paid what these trucks are worth, it’d be no big deal $30k in major repairs. But these trucks are 3 to 4 times the retail price. A Fitzgerald is actually cheaper. But that’s where they suck you in

Unexpecting prey - Where they get most people is with an easy credit score and small down payment. Your credit does not have to be as good for a DB Krumble Truck vs a Fitzgerald; plus the down payment is a lot smaller. Then they bring you to Antioch, IL. and wow you with eye candy. And their toys, along with putting you in a hotel and buying you a few meals. During this time they try to amaze you with the fact they drove for QC for 15 years. The amazing part is how they are the worse mentors known to mentorship world wide. They must of drove with their eyes and ears shut for 15 years. Don’t take their advice - omg don’t do that. Find people out here and talk to us. Affiliate owners can not stand those two or their program, because they get stuck with the repair bills; and truck payments, until the truck is re-seated. Lots of trucks get turned in. The 2 Brown’s try to blame every driver for quitting, instead of looking at themselves and their dilapidated program.

Corporate terminals - Most likely is where a DB truck will get assigned to. St Louis is the only one you have a chance at surviving. Other than that I don’t know much, because I’m lucky enough to be at an Affiliate owned terminal.

QC is truly not a bad company to work for. Rates should be higher, and their Hitler esk compliance department cracks me up. Like it’s a punishment to be let go - lmao. I think all companies have issues, and these 2 issues I can deal with because QC has been good to me in all other areas. The people in corporate are awesome when you need to talk to them. The Union Terminals have awesome rates, but there is only 2 (Bristol, WI. and Delaware, OH.) that I know of, and they are not allowed to take owner operators.
