DB guys are nice, laid back and friendly.
They definitely seem to educate drivers on tricks of the trade and what to look out for. I've seen what each truck goes through, in regards to repair/rebuilds.
They have several places that do their work but they do final touches and full design, and also seen some changed after it was built because it didn't look rite to db. I'd say 100% of all trucks get everything rebuilt and or replaced from the radiators to rears ends and brakes, air lines etc on top of complete drive train. So yeah they are expensive for old trucks but they've been gone through and come with warranty unlike the majority of regular lease purchase trucks companies have on the lot, (unless it's a new truck lease) so an old truck fully restored is better in my eyes then one that hasn't been and soon down the road repairso will start adding up fast and repairs can break a driver starting out as an O/O.
I've done 2 runs so far easy as he'll, just have to learn how to shift with liquid bulk, the tidal wave sneaks up on you lol.
Trust, you won't get rich owning a truck, I don't care what your hauling, there ups and downs in this industry but from the guys I've talked to here the lowest averaged 186k for the year and the highest was 228k, it definitely depends on the terminal and how long you want to stay out, you won't make #### going home everyday, but there are dedicated runs where that could happen and still make it.
So in closing...
It's early but there is money here if you run and are friendly to others. Will I be here forever, one only knows, if I get bored maybe get my bank to assume the lease and I go elsewhere, but my 5 yr plan is to pay off truck and either keep it running or sell it and invest in properties. but the work is easier than freight, less boring, and customers can't wait for the load, they're happy to see you unlike wherehouses that can care less.
1 more thing, I hate emmision engines, I wouldn't buy one if my life depended on it, they are money pits....another reason why I went with DB, I got a 6NZ cat.
A Fitzgerald is sweet to, hard to get with a cat now, they are pushing Detroit, also they require a big down payment like buying a new truck, here at db it reversed, you pay the balloon at the end. Which is good because I didn't have 30k to put down.

You know, I did pay 3 times retail; but I have a custom truck and one heck of a support team. @RERM is correct - break downs suck, but it's the nature of the beast.

My new 18 speed Eaton will have a 3 year warranty, but the blown one made it 900,000 - so my new tranny will too.

QC has some really nice sign on bonuses right now, for anyone new coming over. We are getting busy and busier. Plus our terminal in Joliet is matching the sign on bonus - double yo money. If you've kept up with me - you know I am extremely happy in Joliet and with QC.

$1000's in the first couple of months is bad. I probably had that much too, but I stayed in communication with Dave Brown and he paid for everything. Right down to a completely new AC system - literally everything replaced.

Communication is key and finding positive people to be around.

Again I'm not perfect, but I see a lot of self accountability in what you wrote. Most of that wouldn't of happened or been a surprise if you were patient, communicated, and read your contracts first. This is a big deal it's not like signing a contract for a cell phone. Read it.

The need to get out of a contract is for no other reason than to be a Kangaroo. Stay out and finish what you started. No more hopping.

Now snap out of the funk - look yourselves in the mirror - and promise yourselves an awesome tomorrow. Today you prep for that tomorrow. I'm here if you need me. I'm in Joliet 750 with the only 386 DB Kustoms built.

I can’t help but find it a little comical that no more than a year ago your “three cheers for DB” now it’s like the worst mistake you ever made. I understand a year can show the nature of what and where you are but the name calling is a little childish imo. I’m looking at rolling for Dave on the company side and seems like a genuine guy. Is he in business to make money? Yes. Is it his job to hold your hand. No. If it was a bad deal from the begging then it’s no ones fault but your own from not doing more research, reading the fine print and know what you were getting into.

Dumb question but can’t find any info on it. Rider/pet policy with DBK. Is there one? I imagine with ports of entry and chemical plant load/reload my guess is no, but does rider with TWIC change that?
