It will get better in time. I'm so fortunate that I took my cdl course via community college which included 6 weeks of backing and driving. My first week of straight line backing was so atrocious I don't even have the words. I had wanted to give up so many times but I remembered paying $1100 out of pocket for the class and how much I hated my current job at the time that it kept me motivated. Oddly enough, driving came so natural to me. After two days my instructor told me I was one of the best drivers in the class. That also motivated me, knowing that I was good with the driving that I could focus more on my backing.

It is amazing how hating your job will give you that extra boost of motivation and focus....

Where do you live that you can get your CDL training at a CC for $1100 bucks? It's 5grand at a CC here and you would think since its Idaho they would be promoting it and it would be cheaper.

There were no schools when I went for work the first time. Your job depended on how good you were at showing a lie.

Take it easy and you'll get there. But you've already got nerves of steel and it can't even come close to an IED even with the robot. BTW, I was in on that project to but those robots from all the different vendors like Romotec the most expensive. Believe it or not when the service was buying the best vendor they went with the most expensive and didn't pass like all the rest of them. They had 10 vendors and the best came out of Australia and was the cheapest. Sorry to get off track.

Hang in there its important to remember you don't know how to drive a truck its nothing like driving a car so you cant apply that experience to trucks your starting from 0 same with backing if you think you can do it because you have put a few boats in the lake your in for an awaking ,you will be fine relax and learn.

I almost quit training cause my shifting was so bad. But I stuck it out. Once I was out on my own it took me a year to quit grinding the gears.

This is so true you don't know how to drive until you spend months behind the wheel which is well into going solo. They teach you how to pass the test not how to drive.
