Woah, take a deep breath. You might be taking yourself a little too seriously.

One such study can be found at projecttimeoff.com. If you read the article already posted it said evidence was staggering. I think the general consensus is that vacations are the difference between happy, productive and stressed, burned out workers. Starting a new job can be stressful so in this case a vacation may be helpful . I am not an authority on this so feel free to offer your opinions. Thanks.

ok, that is better, to provide a link, to support what you said, rather than to not provide, and back up your statement.

it is interesting in that study such a high amount do not take vacation time. back in the day when my dad was alive, he and his co-workers could accumulate vacation time, and use it towards retirement at an early age, if only by (say) 3-5 months. that was put to a stop, at his employer. they were told, ":use it up, or LOSE IT"

needless to say, dad and his co-workers took the time off, from that point on.

now, what are the reasons for today's workers to not take a vacation?

could it be a lower pay than a regular work week pay?

could it be they have nothing to do, if they take a vacation?

could it be they are able to accumulate vacation, and retire earlier?

i find it irksome how so many companies only offer the traditional 1 week off, after working ONE FULL year, and then have a cap of vacation time, but one must reach (like a job i had) 7 years to get a whopping 3 weeks off.

why more than say 3 years, (one week off for each year with a cap of say 5 weeks), must a worker put in to get more than one week's vacation?

is it, or is it not, "assumed" that if an employee stays (on average) of 3 years, he/she is staying till either retirement or many years at the very least, showing the employer longevity to the job???

i now have saved that link, for my future reference and reading updates.

thanks again, for providing a link, kinda made what you said earlier, more valid, than just a random statement.

    have a great day.......!!!!!!

If I were you, I'd ask him to pick some difficult stores when you're driving (if he's not picking them already). As the new guy, you're going to be getting stuck with a lot of those when you're on your own. Best to experience those while with a trainer .. Most stores are easy, but some are a bit tricky. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the job. Great job and lots of good people there, welcome aboard!
