If you have anything in the way of a detailed statement from KW, look to see if they did a load test on your batteries. More than likely, the battery they replaced was starting to show a high internal resistance - which begins to drastically decrease the current available to run ye ol' starter motor. However, like Injun said...

    The sad part about this.....

The dealer or engine maker should've checked all that instead of having you run it. My guess is they was hoping it would be out of warranty so you'd have to foot the bill.

    Injun Thanks this.

Good post dude, but a total waste of time. He don't get it. You could explain it to him for days, but you'll never be able to understand it for him.

BlackW900, anywhere have i ever 'claimed' to be an O/O? i don't consider or have i ever considered myself anything BUT a "L/O". show me one post where i claimed to be a "O/O"...please....

and the starter isnt whats giving me the biggest problem. it's the faking running around, and Bill SHATner that the driver has to go thru to get a problem fixed properly. It is almost like everything i've ever told a KW mechanic, and they're too busy thinking about what they wish they could be doing after work. When i told them over and over that i didn't need jumpstarted, and it would start after being pulled forward or rolling forward a few feet, and nobody even bothering to test the starter, and doing anything in their power to avoid claiming anything on the warranty and doing whatever they could to hand the driver a bill...........THAT is what i'm most pizzed about.

like i said in a post weeks and weeks ago. I have a dollar amount for what i have in my maintence account. This one problem has just about killed that off. But like i said, i look at it like its money already spent. Sure it is in my account, and i know its money for maintence.....so if i look at it like funds already spent....its not as big a deal as 'money i'm spending'. again....its more the BS i've delt with the KW dealership....

i should clairify, this 'problem' could have/SHOULD HAVE been solved after blowing $1000 on 2 service calls and the first visit to the shop the weekend before thanksgiving. having to cover ANOTHER service call, and ANOTHER visit to the shop should never have been.

I did bring to the KW dealership's attention, that they can call me without waiting when they miss something on the estimate, or work they forgot to tell me about that thye need to do....but yet they can't call me to let me know when the truck was ready. This dealership is obviously a one way dealership.....and i'll never be back.

You need to call KW and raise Hell about these bums. Try and get some resolve there.

Problem is that Dick really is what you described that mechanics treat drivers like. He don't have a clue. There was a lot of experience here that tried to give him sound advice so he could have avoided a lot of the crap he went through but he wouldn't listen. Instead his chest swelled up like most rookies these days and they know more than any old hand that was trying to help. He could of got off a lot easier if he'd have listened. When he has a real problem it will most likely break him for good.

Ain't that the truth!! A few weeks ago I was in Austin, MN and had an alternator belt break. I had just gotten to the truck stop...it was windy and cold and I was doing my paper work. Heard a squealing and thought wtf? is that. Did some checking and seen one of the belts were broke. Figured the squealing was do to only one belt and it not wasn't putting enough tension. Had that happen a couple months back with the AC....the bracket broke and was constant squealing. Wasn't enough tension on belt to engage AC clutch and belt would squeal/slip.

Called the company mechanic we're leased to and he put me in touch with a mobile service in Albert Lea...15 miles away. The guy I talked to was telling me the belt broke because the alternator locked up. I was trying to tell him it wasn't locked up. After a few minutes of him being a jerk, I told him to either bring me the belts or I'll find someone else who will. I didn't have time for his crap. Within an hour he had a guy come out with two belts. Five minutes later the belts were on and no issues.

The guy told me if I knew so much then why don't I just drive the truck to their shop. I was in no way going to do that. I figured the alternator probably wasn't going to charge right without the belts on properly and wasn't going to take a chance or mess anything else up.

It was a 300 dollar bill but I figure that's part of trucking. Funny thing was it was just in the shop and had all the belts changed...except for those two. The mechanics said they were in great shape. LOL I have the one that didn't break in the truck to show them when I get back to their shop. Far from great.

i want you to read thur this entire thread again, and show me the 'advice' that experienced drivers gave me regarding this problem that could have helped me in dealing with the dealership? I can only explain the problem to the shop guys at KW the only way i can.....the way it actually happened. any genius in the shop or on this site could identify the problem as being the starter.

has nothing to do with ego. I'm the same person i was before i leased a truck than after. The only difference is i'm a bit more mindfull about the overhead of the truck. I still have the same CB radio, haven't spent a dime on worthless chrome, and could care less about who i pass or who passes me on the road.

I don't need to re-read this thread, but maybe you should Dick. Just pick a page. But chances are if you didn't see it the first time you won't see it the second time either.

Based on your responses to advice offered to you after you asked for it. :biggrin_25513:

You have two years experience as a truck driver.
You think this is enough to make a go of it as a L\O. Maybe it is, I certainly hope that you make it. I really do. One more success story for other to read and learn from.

However, as I said before, I'm not going to sugar coat things for you, and I'm certainly not going to say that with the attitude shown by many of your posts that your going to make it.

I now declare this issue dropped.
