Actually, .13 a mile is nothing to us but if he runs 3500 miles per week in 6 day, he has earned $575 with the per diem.
He has somewhere in the neighborhood of 25% or $125 of that withheld for IMSS (Social Security) which gives him something we don't have.
FREE MEDICAL CARE in IMSS hospitals. Socialized medicine? Sure is! But the care is excellent and it covers the entire family.
Second is a small pension when he retires.
And then in December, as required by law for all Mexicans employed in a legal manner, he receives the equivalent of 4 weeks pay as a end of year bonus.
And in a country where a factory worker earns $125-150 per week for a 48 hour week, $450 dollars or $4500 pesos is a ###### decent salary.
