2200 from ontario to miami is beyond cheap. I would have felt insulted if offered that. I highly doubt they cover that load for $2200. That acually should be the rough going rate comming out of Fla up to Ontario.

I would not feel bad about canceling the load. In most other situations yes, but not when you brain fart for a moment, comtemplating turning a 3500 mile round for slightly over a buck a mile.

I wouldn't feel bad. If the situation was reversed, the broker would not think twice about dropping out on you if he happened to find a cheaper truck.
I booked a load last week out of Casa Grande AZ to Casper WY. They originally told me $1200. They were around 300 miles off on their miles. We had a discussion about how far it really was up there and I got the rate up to $1800. I was on the way to pick the stuff up and called to get the exact address and was told the load cancelled. I am willing to bet they got a sucker to take load for $1200 who didn't check their mileage first. I have the confirmation signed by their agent and just invoiced them 10% of what it was supposed to pay for wasting my time. They probably will not pay but its a big flatbed broker, you would all know the name and the invoice went to their main office so we will see.
So, don't feel bad, they were probably making more on the load than you were going to.

Update, they aint gonna pay me anything. I figured as much, but I had to try. Called the main office and got all the way to the vice president before I got voicemail. Left him a nice polite message--never heard a word back.

I know what you mean when you say thay you don't cancel loads. We like to think our word is bond, too. But, someone who is expecting to book a 1,700 mile reefer load # 43,000 lbs. with 3 drops paying $2,200 going to Miami EVERY DAY is just putting us out of business. You know ... you would think she would apologize and say that this is just one of those quirky things that dropped on her desk. But, no. She is selling a reefer at this rate for those miles and drops without shame. When you cancelled, I bet that load was a hot potato she couldn't get rid of. At least I hope so. If a broker is stuck with a load like this, and can't book it, maybe they will get a clue that we don't want to be put out of business.

diesels over 3 bucks a gallon, 1700 miles if your truck gets 6 miles to the gal is 283 gallons,an about 850 bucks in fuel, which leave $1350.00 barring not tire or truck problems ,not to mention insurrance ifta tags 2290 and when all is said an done how much did you take home for a paycheck......guess that 1350 shrunk into nothing :biggrin_2556:

This quy doesn't sound one bit upset about sticking it to the trucker.:biggrin_25513: And the OO was probably and will stay a bottom feeder right up until the time he needs to repair his truck and is out of business.

I can't believe someone would take a load paying that cheap going into Fl. Possibly coming out, but not going in. When I take a load into an area like that I want it to pay enough to deadhead out if I have to.
