So I got dispatched on a Canadian run today, it will be my first time driving in Canada, and I was told as far as logs go you can follow the us regulations and be fine over there, but I was wondering if there's anything else I should now, what are the major truck stop chains over there, and where else can/can't I park my rig, what are some laws for cmvs that apply over there that don't apply in the us, any info I can get will be helpful

And only brunette lot lizards are legalmje Thanks this. -
We were instructed that you must follow Canadian HOS rules. I would, if just to be on the safe side. You can find them on the web. And you need to know your metric-US conversions. And whatever you do, MAKE SURE THAT YOU FILL OUT THE CORRECT BORDER CROSSING PAPERWORK! There are different forms for going each direction, or for just passing through Canada as a land bridge. Good luck.

Where abouts are you going ( PROVINCE ) to provide you with truckstop info.
Watch the NO PARKING signs at rest areas / service centres as well as restricted parking areas for the double trailer units along the 400 series highways in Ontario.mje Thanks this. -
I think the first time you go into canada you have to go through customs and they will search your truck and run a background check, at least thats what they did the first time i went through.
mje Thanks this. -
and BEFORE you cross the border call the broker to know if the paperwork is ok, he/she wil give you a release number.
put that number on your paperwork and at the border give it to costums
good luck.
going back to the USA is the same ,call broker for release numbermje Thanks this. -

They have Flying J's, what part of Canada are you going to? (edit: nm you later told us where). They make it seem like a huge deal to go into Canada but it is no problem. A lot of times they don't even use the xray to scan my truck and wave me on past.
mje Thanks this.
