First time using rock salt for tires frozen down in 9" deep ice?

    A lot of kitty liter is clay based, if the ice surface is wet it will turn to slippery mud. It holds up in soft powder for traction but won't do much on ice.

    I had good luck with that ice melt stuff not salt. I'd put a bunch of it in front of the drives and in just a few minutes drive out.

    Good news, I went up the next day and it continued to melt over night so I pulled out and moved spots.
    I have to get across a very muddy lot tommrow. So I went ahead and chained today. Will update tommrow.

    It went bad. Next year I will have to do something different.
