Just to let you all know that I just completed my first week on the road driving teams for Choctaw Express... I have learned so much and one thing that has really impressed me is you experienced truckers... All in all the majority of drivers are VERY professional on the road. what I am meaning is that the more mature group of truckers hold a very high rating in my book. Always trying to help others on the CB with road conditions and police locations. I even was in a situation once coming through Nashville, yesterday (Friday) during Rush hour traffic and a Owner op. was blocking traffic so I could get in the correct lane... I am starting to understand that some drivers take the "Professional Truck driver" very seriously and I can only hope to eventually get to their level. I drove a total of 68 hours and almost 4000 miles, between my trainer and I we were just shy of 7000 miles in seven days. We were running hard. But for you newer people like myself, one thing that I absolutely love is the FREEDOM on the road. I feel like there is a peace driving, especially late at night. I now have a new goal, and that is to become more like the Professional driver... On the other hand, there are some that are too busy talking on the cell phone to even use turn signals and also will cut in front of another fellow driver causing them to hit the brakes hard, but that is ok in my book, I know no matter what you do or what industry you are in, there will always be the immature and only think about themselves type of people...but all in all I am very satisfied of my decision to become a driver. I also think that before anyone can get a class c liscense, they should be required to ride with a CDL driver and learn what it really takes in driving a big truck so they can have more respect for the Professional driver.
first week O.T.R. completed......
