Hey part-timer, patty. And you wonder why people buy their own trucks. Maybe it will get better after you have your own truck, but it was one of the reasons I bought my own I just got fed up with company trucks and slip seating, and I just had enough of that crap. And the bad part is, 3 days later, it's going to look just like that again. I've found, once a pig, always a pig.:biggrin_25513:

All the company drivers have their own trks except me because im new. They wanna see how I do first.I don't mind slip seating just hate to have to get inside an unfit trk.Todays trk even a pig from the farm would have thought it was too dirty, lol.I was very surprised to see it in this shape because Linda checks the trks, mainly the ones that smoke. She was just as shocked as I was. When she opened the passenger door garbage fell out.[QUOTE="semi" retired;4176268]Hey part-timer, patty. Tips: 1) Carry extra hose gaskets, cams, and a few basic hand tools to change them.
    2) Swap boots. Black rubber steel toe chemical boots for loading/unloading. Then hang them upside down between the fuel tank and step. Wear clean boots while driving. I like slip on boots instead of laces.
    3) Get a small bottle of diesel fuel and some terry cloth towels to clean up the dome seal, hose gaskets, and fittings.
    4) Carry a hammer to tap free things like dome lids. Just don't whack things too hard or they break. Especially aluminum. Hammer is good for thumping tires everytime you stop, too. You'll know you picked up a nail and have a slow leak before it blows.
    5) Where a slicker suit top while handling those nasty asphalt hoses. Man that stuff stinks!
    6) Don't forget to clean your PTO pump after doing a pump off. Asphalt will harden and freeze it up.

you mentioned a DIRTY TRUCK , saw 1 yesterday that could likely top what you put up with , the mechanic put plastic on the drivers seat so as not to get his coveralls dirty :). The dealership service adviser had moved the truck earlier and his dress slacks and dress shirt were covered with grease and grime from the guy who drove it , the trucks not a year old and its like the city dump inside of it

What is wrong with drivers.Respect other people's property.I'm going to bring a towel or something for the seat so I don't get asphalt on it.At least now I seen the sour side to my boss, not a pretty sight.Think she actually was in shock after seeing how bad it looked.I know I was. Then those sunflower seed shells all over the place. That alone is a half a day of cleaning..Sacks of garbage everywhere,at least he could do is tie the sacks so garbage don't fall all over the place.I have another trk Monday, wonder what surprise i'll see this time. This driver had 3 dirty hard hats in the trk and one in the side box allcovered in asphalf. Many vest all black all his tools covered in asphalt.I made the mistake of touching his hammer without gloves on.

Ok the only thing I see I may have trouble with is knowing how much asphalt I need. Here;s the drill,we enter the scale empty,I weigh roughly 26,500,I go inside and dispatch ask me how much.Hell I don't know you tell me,lol.dispatch laughed last week when I said that.So anyway how much do I tell him? See when he gives me the empty scale ticket after I tell him how much I need it says what rack to go under then we punch in the3 digit code on the ticket and that's how much asphalt will go in the tank.
