If they were paying you by the mile for local work I don't blame you. Just wondering do your short stints at jobs hinder your ability to land new jobs?

You would think so would'nt you but believe it or not it does'nt.Anymore companies look at your mvr and csa. Many get turned away just for that.I've had so many job offers but nothing what I thought it was so I turned them down. Two of the companies said well if you're interested in the future give them a call.I'm even eligable for rehire at Heyl.

As soon as you have your empty weight, you are able to tell how much to load, (80,000 lbs minus empty weight), don't forget to subtract your own weight from the amount if they weighed the truck while you were in the scalehouse, if you were in the seat while being weighed then it then it is already accounted for. Your company is paid by the ton, so they will want you to load as much as is legally possible. Most trailers have a marker below the dome lid, if you have the same tractor and trailer, you can fill up with fuel and set the marker at a legal load so that you don't have to guess each time, if no marker, a bent steel clothes hanger will work, shape it so that it hangs down from the dome and bend a L shape where you want to stop loading, after loading just remove it and lay it outside the dome, just don't drop it in the tank. If everywhere you load can set the pumps to shut down at a certain volume, all you need is your empty weight subtracted from 80,000 lbs.

My first day solo.Did'nt start out good at all.I get to the trk assigned to me and the keys wasn't in there.Dispatch spent a half hr looking for a spare, never did find any.So he calls the driver who had it last and he took the keys home.So I wait over a half hr for him. They I had to unhook the trailer he was hook to and take a different trailer.Ya I wasn't a happy camper. Not a good start to a newbie's day. Then spent 15 minutes trying to get under the pipe to load my trailer.Once trailer was loaded, today was better.I get to the job site was there almost 4 hrs.But it didn't bother me because im getting paid by the hr and for now im only doing 1 load a day.Tomorrow I go back to that job site.

It pays the same. But what I don't like is you don't receive any pay if your load is cancelled and you're already at the yard did pretrip getting ready to hit the scale.I talk to my boss about that today.Tuesday and Friday I get there did pretrip and then the customer cancels. So that just added to everything bad this morning.
