My truck was built in 2007 with a 2006 engine.
-
So no other way than close inspection to check for ARD heads on C15s from 2007.
-
How good are the Cummins from 2007?
-
You guys are right. It's like cars they build the new year model staring in July (or thereabouts) of the current production year. Somehow I guess that's how they skirt around sticking 2006 emmissions compliant motors in 2007 model trucks. I really have never seen a 2007 model anything with a DPF and until now did not believe they existed.

RC, I think it's really rare that there is a dpf in an 07.
rollin coal Thanks this. -
There is no set date or formula for when they change the model year 2016's are available already , I had 2 KWS that had consecutive serial #s and came off the assembly line together 1 was a 2006 the other a 2007 ,

You're probably right with trucks and equipment. With cars and pickups it's different. My trailer was finished and came off the line 12-17-14 but the year model on the certificate of origin and title is 2016 so go figure.

My Columbia is registered as an 05, but the build date stamped on the door sill says Aug 04. The C15 I have is also dated 2004.
And,.. my trailer too. Fontaine Infinty, has a build date of 2012 on the front of it, yet the registration says its a 2013.
I dont know the build date of the Pete 386, Carrier still owns it. Has been trying to sell it since Aug of 2013. He's spent a poop load of money on it. Truck is a lemon. Has new Turbos, headwork, tons and tons of tuning work done to it. Its had the stuff were not allowed to talk about done to it as well. I was almost temped to buy it at that point, but decided not to. He then had an O/O try a lease purchase with the truck. Put a driver in it. Supposedly the O/O back out because the truck was using too much fuel. The truck isnt govn'd,.. so I'm guessing the driver just drove flat out everywhere he went. It had a 475hp C15,.. but compared to other C15's I drove,.. that Pete would flat out move. Never struggled up any hill with any load. I miss that part about the truck. Rode nice and was very stable and predictable going down the road. Just too many issues for me to be comfortable paying $50k for truck that goes in the shop every 30 days.

From a drivers perspective the Cummins has a stronger jake. Doesnt have the low end grunt like a Cat, but better than the Detroit down low.
Of the ISX Cummins that were with the Carriers I was with, the majority of issues were not DPF related. That doesnt mean they dont have those issue,.. just that I was not privy to that information. I saw mainly EGR and turbo problems. Not persistent DPF issues.
Thats my opinion,.. and again,.. not an expert.
